So excited - Jim Berry clutch on it's way

Postby XP05UR » Thu Sep 20, 2012 4:09 pm

After about 6 weeks of gassing myself in the cabin whenever I give the car a little 3rd gear squirt and having the clutch pedal at the very end of it's travel I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a clutch..

Looking through all the clutch posts on the forum I decided I'd give Exedy a miss and go for the complete Jim Berry unit with flywheel exchange.. Well worth the money when I was quoted $1170 through Subaru for a genuine..

Will be the second Jim Berry clutch that I've had in my cars and I can't wait... :D :D

Hopefully arrive sometime next week and will be installed when I'm back from Thailand the following week... Will keep everyone informed on how it goes :)

Clutch kit = $880 + GST
Flywheel = $75 + GST
$250 deposit (for flywheel exchange) + GST
Plus freight

Total = $1364

Take off the $275 deposit when my flywheel is returned and it's only $1089..

Money well spent in my book... Do it once and do it right...

same as mine.
Jim will also guarantee that if something isn't right and it's the fault of his kit then he'll cover the labour and any of his parts to get it sorted.
I love mine. heaps of bit when you need it, betetr pedal feel than OEM with no added pedal weight, and more QUALITY clutch material on the discs for longer lifespan rather than teh second-hand garden twine used in the Subaru units

my fitment was free....
because he quoted on removing, splitting and inspecting the box to fix the centre diff issue, which was paid for by the dealer warranty..!!
It helps to have a good rapport with your mechanic!

Sorry for ressurecting an old post but the clutch was finally fitted today by Garage 88 after sitting in a box on my office floor for almost a year... UNBELIEVABLE difference, amazing pedal feel and fantastic pick up. Highly recommended...

Now just to send my flywheel back and see if I can still get the exchange credit lol...

Think it was around $500 for install.. Gave the Subie a bit of a birthday at Garage 88 as I was thinking about selling but figured I'd keep it and spend some coin on it. New centre diff, sway bars front and rear, new steering bushes, clutch install and service.. Seriously can't rate Mick and the team there highly enough. Big thanks to Ryan there too..
