Speaking to Danny and Phil Lowe they both said in separate conversions I should run compression ratio of about 9:0 / 9:1 for my build....9:5 would be pushing it out there I guess?

This would make it still safe to run pump fuel with moderate boost without introducing detention or ping? with E85 it doesn't really matter to certain a extent...

I also found out from Phil Lowe that my ATP GTX3071r has a custom rear housing and not a WRX/STI housing which I thought all this time? good to know info :D

I asked about going bigger in turbo size? but he suggested it would be perfect down low / spool and power to be made as it's not a big A/R and will work with the comp ratio planned...while keeping boost target levels at around 20-25 psi ...

Remembering my car is a street car....and not a track / drag car....I want it to be drivable in all road conditions.....and not insane only on mid - top end...

The two litre libs run 9.5:1 static compression from factory ;)

Although this is diluted by the swept dynamic compression from the quad avcs overlap as compared to dual avcs on the 2.5.

Sweet, I wish I knew my comp ratio mine could be under 9... Who knows

The gtx30 would be good for well over 300 atw at 30 psi give or take I thought about bigger for mine for later but not sure it's the right path for me as mine takes a while to get on boost now

Bummer to hear about the rebuild but looks like it will be pushing good power and response Juzzy.
Would you like me to tune it? I hear tuning is simple as piss these days.

Good old Phil Lowe……. It was one of his built RS liberty which first attracted my attention to the potential the boxer engine had.

At the time was I working about 150km out of Sydney in Lithgow and used to follow an old timer in an RS through Bells line of RD……… I managed to catch the owner at a servo once and he showed me the car and what was underneath, 350 000km plus on the clock and a lazy 220+kw atw with are few suspension tweaks and this car was hard to catch both in a straight line and in the bends. He told me to speak to Phil it I ever intended on getting a soobi….. at the time I was driving a worked VZ SS.

Justin, it seems like you’re in good hands this time round, with all the effort you’re putting in, get the heads ported whilst you’re at it….. so you can finally finish the build and enjoy the car.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

UPDATE:

Well ...............Umm...............

Take A Look And Make Up Your Own Minds........Hackmanship at it's best.......

No words can describe what I'm feeling right now.......

I'm going to need a S#!T load of parts now....maybe even some oem cams....they drilled out and made those inserts on the upper left and right ....

1/ cam covers and associated bolts as they had to break them to get the covers off cause of the crossed threading...
2/ never ending farking list....too many to mention and type....

Tomorrow is another field day as I will see the pistons, rods, gaskets etc etc..

Danny asked me if I knew they had done this? OR AT LEAST kept me informed about what they did? and I said I had no farking idea! if I did? I would of told them to stop and get the car farking towed away....

In conclusion it looks like there were some aftermarket studs put in? don't know the exact details...will get more info as it unfolds ....

It really suprises me how deceit my car ran knowing the truth now......unbelievable....all this time? no wonder my AVCS was way out! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Another semi positive I have learned so far is I did find the water pump to be new as I wanted that changed and I saw the gates timing belt...so in that regards all good.....kind of!...

Yeh man you definitely have a story!! Good and bad but mostly heart breaking. I have my mechanic that has always done the right thing by me and doesnt bullshit to me or my wife!! He is not what you would call cheap but not the most expensive either. If i need things done ( little things to big ) and i go down and do it myself with his help he doesnt charge me, and i use his hoist and tools.

I honestly think i have a genuine good mechanic and have known him for 10yrs.

There are good mechanics out there, few and far between but they are there.

I cant remember seeing what 'shop' it was that has farked this up for you, or shouldnt i ask who they are??
