Tried to do a video today, but camera cannot be positioned well enough to capture the tacho, gear number and stick. Something was always in the way. And then I ran out of time, so maybe I will need a person in the back seat with a camera. I will think on this some more and have another play next weekend (during the cruise).

Where were you trying to mount it? Should be able to get it from the sunroof

Was mounted on the sunroof, but with the wide angle (and some smears on the lense), I could not get all in picture or focus. I will do some testing in the garage 1st to get the optimum recording position before I try again.

Here are the final rebuild details of the auto transmission (5EAT) from David at Kewish Transmissions:

Remove auto transmission, dismantle and clean.
Use genuine subaru overhaul kit.
Upgrade all clutch packs:
a. Main input clutch, was 5 friction plates upgraded to 8.
b. Second gear had 5 now 8.
c. Third gear had 5 now 8.
d. Fourth had 4 now 6.
e. Transfer gear clutch pack (centre diff) had 3 now 6.
As you can see there are significant percentages of improvement.
The friction plate material in these clutch packs are hi-torque material - in itself is an upgrade.
The more friction plate elements, the greater the surface area, therefore, greater torque handling capability.
The valve body which operates these clutches has also been improved to provide greater clamping force, i.e pressure.
There are limitations in this process and we rely on it to be complimented by transmission programming.

And soon, the final result on the transmission re-programming! I already have loaded up revision 1f from Kido-Racing, and.....

Just an update. The latest tune from Matt @ Kido-Racing is running well. Did an exhaust shot so you can hear, well, the exhaust, and the shifts:

Enjoy! I do and still will be for a while!!!

Gathers speed quick when booted!!

Must be the smoothest shifting 3.0 supercharged in the world. Valadares will be hoping for exactly this result for his Outback SC

Sounds awesome Mark.

Happy would have to be an understatement on how you must be feeling right now with the auto and tune.

Certainly a great example of the gains that can be had.

Well, when the Mrs said I could have any model liberty as long as it was an auto, I was thinking the GT, but then she also added the light coloured interior as a requirement and my heart sank. I thought best not challenge that too much, but have been patiently waiting for the auto/tune to catch up and I am in a happy place right now.

I should update my signature to, "No Lag and slick shifts!"

It has taken some time, patience and money, but the current result has been worth it. Have not yet started on the performance tuning, just the transmission for the moment. I can still feel some residual jarring under some conditions in the 2nd to 3rd shift, but getting better with each tune from Matt. All other shifts are close to perfect for me.
