On that note, do many people track liberty's, in auto especially I'd be interested in feedback.

had one on the track for last years RSLC national meet here in Hobart (mine was at home with a bung centre diff )
Basically stock 3RB wagon was doing consistently similar times to mildy modified Libs and a couple of WRX's

10 years newer chassis, better suspension geometry and big-ass brakes help keep it quick through the corners

Yeah, this is my fear.
I do love manual for its control, and proper driving ability.... but I've gotten lazy driving the missus liberty around in traffic and freeway on cruise etc, and it would be a PITA taking my car somewhere then her not being able to drive it (used to happen all the time when mine was our main car ).
On the other hand, if I'm getting a manual I may as well just get a clapped out gc8 for ~$10k and track it and put the extra coin onto the mortgage/renovations that the wife insists on doing!



Another interesting development is that a good mate of mine has a MY08 Liberty GT in auto that I'm going to have a drive of, and he's keen to sell around the same time that I'm going to be ready to sell my current ride and purchase, so that is a plus knowing the history etc of the vehicle... what to do!?
Downsides is that its sedan (I *think* I'd prefer wagon - yes kiks, I'm looking at you). And its black (I'd prefer a light colour, but could be convinced - yes kiks... I'm looking at you again )

black is an arse to keep clean. But when its cleaned every week or two its by far the best looking imo.

Manual is the easiest of manuals to drive. 3rb pressure plates have light finger pressure and heavy clamp = light progressive pedal.

Hate to do this but, I would also say the pearl white looks just as good even better during the day. And it doesn't require as much maintenance like the black does. Black wins during the night.

Yeah just saying (seeing as this isn't actually your sale thread) that pearl white and black are on par (imo)
I personally prefer the white for my liberty as it's more of a statesman colour for class, which is how I'm modding my car. But each to their own.

The main issue for yours kiks is that I'm buying to a budget, and yours just plain doesn't fit that right now

Re: the auto, once you get used to the lag on the paddles (post face)... it's OK. For a hills run, when you're just flipping back and forth between 2nd and 3rd, you just need to advance your timing on your shifts a little bit.

I will say, either changing "manually" (paddles) from 1st to 2nd, or leaving it in full auto, mine seems to lag rather terribly coming out of 1st and overrun a little bit. This will be one of the things on my list for Matt from KiDo to fix when I get my tune

Unfortunately never driven a manual - I have a physical disability and required a "Fitness to Drive" medical evaluation to get my license. As a result of this, it's been decided I can only drive auto.
However, having said that, I've gone from a "normal auto" (MY01 RX) to the Gen4 Post Facelift with the paddles - once you get your head around the inherent lag, it does provide a greater level of control than I had previously, through the ability to use at least some level of engine braking, and being able to "pre-load" the gear you want coming out of a corner and get back on boost quicker , rather than putting your foot down and waiting for the gear box to figure out it needs to drop back to 2nd (or alternatively overdoing it and jolting you back into 1st for a second or two, just to change up again).

And that answers my next question.... I'd love to hear what you think once its tuned, any timeframe on when you'll be doing that?

They're pretty busy at the moment, Bryce told me on July 6 that I'd probably be about 3 weeks away. I also want to get a Dump Pipe and Quads, so ideally I need to do that first, but with Phat's level of insanely crazy business at the moment, I've not been able to organise to purchase the gear yet. Have a look around the forums though, there's a number of people (either with the 3.0R - including one of the guys who I believe has supercharged - or the 2.0T or 2.5T) that are all raving about the improved drivability of their cars once Matt has had his way with them. I'm definitely not after power figures at the moment (particularly given my car will still be mostly stock), but if he can smooth out some of the accelerator and gearbox behaviour, I'll be even happier with my car than I already am

the one in question was a manual
the other cars in question on the track at the time all rate around the 160KW ATW mark
but are also generally lighter too (early liberty and WRX)
and a few TT Legacy and B4 Liberty all running similar times

but with the right driving there's no reason the auto would really be much slower
