That's what I was just thinking! I like how the led one is thinner!

Yeah I think the LED one might be more suitable for the pre facelift headlights because you have those stupid sticking out bits on the chrome ring around the low beam which kind of gets in the way for a CCFL.

I'm thinking of offering to install CCFL/LED rings for people in the near future if anyone is interested in getting theirs done in Melbourne let me know.

Yeah. I have CCFLs sitting here ready to go but I think I will get the LED ones and see which I prefer and sell the other.

Aren't the LED ones green or yellow or something when off? Looks a bit silly unless these are different?

Yeah it says there is a phosphorous coating, but each LED is so tiny that you wouldn't be able to see them much I don't think.

I have however realised one major problem with those LED's. They are going to be VERY bright.
Dunno about the rest of you guys but I like subtle angel eyes. Even the ones I got are a little too bright for my liking. Those LED ones will be many many times brighter which will look ricey I think. But each to their own.

That's why I want to test them. I want subtle too.
There's still a chance I prefer the subtlety of no angel eyes too

I sent an email to the LED ring sellers and have a little more info for ye folk:

The xB LED rings are an outside measurement and are 5mm wide, making the 100mm rings 90mm on the inside measurement.

[edit] I commend their response time.

That should make it (outer measurements):
Pre facelift:
CCFL: 105mm
LED: 100mm

Post facelift:
CCFL: 95mm
LED: 90mm

I think these are designed different, not so much individual LEDs like the SMD ones. The whole ring is green :(

Hmmm weird....doesn't look that colour in Mick's photos in his profile. Some of the photos on their website show white though.

Is that the back or the front of it?

You can't see what colour Micks are because they are turned on :)

As it says on the website:
Please note: Just like any individual LED chip, the yellow-colored phosphorus coating on the face of the LED rings is required to produce the white light output. The amber emitting rings are white in appearance when turned off.

Yeah a little confusing. Could also be the amber ones as they wouldn't need the coating?

The photo I put up shows the wires going to the other side so I'd guess the green is the front?

I'd consider doing it on my car provided they were white, and they could be dimmed with a resistor...
