Post Car Detail (DMS Detailing)

Postby BlackGT » Sun Feb 10, 2008 10:07 pm

My car has now been detailed, I've gone from being the dirtiest car on this forum to one of the best. Unfortunatly I didn't have a camera for the before shots (sorry).
I don't recall it looking this good since the day I picked the car up. All those swirls have disapeared and I can acutally see the metallic flakes clearly. Daniel got cracking on the car around 8:30am and finished 3:30PM! So you can imagine the effort he put in. I ended up getting a 3 stage polish (ended up being 5 on the roof and bonnet but only two on doors and side panels).

Car looks awesome and I think money well spent. Highly recommended, hopefully pictures do the car justice.

Ah nice. Im glad you got some good shots.

Just for anyone hat was wondering here is the process used
- Wash
- Clay with clay magic blue and #49 lube
- Wash
Bonnet and roof
-Polish with menzerna Powergloss on yellow pad
-Polish with menzerna Intensive polish green x 2
-Polish with menzerna Final finish 106ff on blue pad
-Polish with menzerna final finish PO85RD on white pad.

Sides
- Polish with Menzerna final finish 106ff on blue
- Polish with menzerna 85rd on white.

The roof and bonnet were in need of lots of work mainly due to etched water marks and heavy swirls. The sides dont suffer from water mark problems for obvious reasons.

As the car is always outside it was decided that Z2 Pro would be best for it so it was sealed with 2 layers of that then topped with Zaino Z8 for that extra touch of gloss.

The interior was treated with lexol vinalex to block the UV's and provide protection.

Any questions shoot.

Nice work Dan, can't wait to see Skooby's car when finished also :)

Is pricing on a per car/job basis, pending on how much work is invovled?

Thanks.

Yeah i have a base price that is listed on the website then if you want it sealed for example its extra or if you want a wax like swissol scuderia its extra or if some places need extra work its extra. In saying that im not in the business of ripping people off. I love what i do and feel that i charge a fair price for the service i give.

Would a silver car benefit much from a detail?

Hi I have paint protection on my car and I was told by the dealer that I should not detail my car, can you do it without damaging/affecting the paint protection on the car? Car colour is Obsidian Black!!

Thanks heaps.

He is right, t will remove the paint protection. How long has it been on for? Most of the time they dont last what they are claimed to.

I think they are the biggest rip off. For the money dealers charge (usually at least $3k the paint protection usually costs them round $800) a detailer could prep the car give you 3 coats of synthetic sealant which will provide you with at least 6 months protection. I charge about $200 for this each time so thats 7.5 years of 6 monthly swirl removal and sealant which you know has been properly applied and will last untill its time for a top up.

Is the paint protection still active? when it rains does the water sheet off the panel, form little beads and sit there or just sort of go flat and hang onto the panel?

It may differ but as per website http://www.dmsdetailing.com.au/3.html

Stage One

A stage one detail includes all aspects of the wash plus a single stage machine polish. The vehicle is then finished in a blended synthetic carnauba wax, however at your request we can use a pure carnauba or a synthetic sealant.

A stage one detail is recommended for vehicles in good contition with light swirling and scratching.

A stage one Detail should be completed at least annually to maintain a scratch and swirl free finish.

Stage One details start at $160

Stage Two

A stage two detail includes all aspects of the wash plus a two stage machine polish. The vehicle is then finished in a blended synthetic carnauba wax, however at your request we can use a pure carnauba or a synthetic sealant.

A stage two detail is recommended for vehicles in average condition with heavier swirling and scratches.

Once a stage two is complete it can be maintained with a stage one detail annually.

Stage Two details start at $230

Stage Three

A stage three detail Includes all aspects of the wash plus a three stage machine polish. The vehicle is then finished in synthetic sealant and topped with a high end carnauba wax to bring long lasting gloss, depth and protection to the paint.

A stage three detail is recommended for vehicles in poor condition including faded, heavily scratched and oxidised finishes.

Once a stage three is complete it can be maintained annually with a stage one.

Stage Three details start at $350
