Has nobody still jumped on this? If Kevin from ProcessWest still needs a donor car, I'm planning to make a trip to Wollongong in mid July where he can have mine for a few days, no final plans yet though..

Nope no one has yet! I'll ask him if July suits him :)

I could be interested with some persuasion...

Looking into starting some performance modifications on my car and I've just moved to weekend shift so I would be able to drop the car off for a few days during the week. I live in wollongong. The car is completely stock under the bonnet and I'm pretty new to the whole performance mod thing. Will I need any other upgrades and what are the pros and cons of installing a TMIC?

Cheers

No other upgrades required although you might want to get the car tuned to maximise benefits of this intercooler. You might want to do a bunch of mods in one go i.e. turbo back exhaust, panel filter or pod filter that way you can justify getting a dyno tune done :)

You already have a TMIC on your car, the pros of installing this one is better cooling due to the bigger core, and more bling in your engine bay because this thing is a monster once installed.

Cons...well to be honest I can't really see a negative in installing a bigger TMIC except for the fact that your bank balance will go down.

Yeah a full exhaust and dyno tune is the plan. I can't see any side effects of having the new TMIC for a few weeks without a tune? Ill try and contact Process West next week when I'm back from the snow. Is the price still that quoted above?

You'd have to do a log of your car (which I'd be happy to help you with) but I ran a pod filter, exhaust and the processwest unit for almost a year without a tune. However, when I logged my car recently it there was engine knock and my IAM was right down to the minimum but this was mainly attributed to the pod filter and boost controller.

I'd suggest if it was only going to be a few weeks you'd have next to no issues as long as you don't drive like a race car driver

I'd definitely jump on this deal if your plans are to do an exhaust and dyno tune anyway!

I won't be making a trip to Wollongong after all...my relatives in the gong will be overseas so I'll have nowhere stay/nothing to do. I recommend you jump on this though N8Bain if you can, it's a steal of a price!

When I had my Forester GT, I learn't if you don't get it tuned with the new mods, it's always good practice after you install any intake/exhaust mods to reset your ECU... that way, the ECU will them eventually learn that something has changed in the system and adapt to it. In the long run, yes a tune would make the intercooler most beneficial.

Each to their own i guess. I have nothing against buying cheap things in some cases, and what other people do doesn't concern me.
In the end it's still going to cool and performance differences between different designs are probably minimal if any, especially on a street car without mega power.

Although unless you are installing it yourself and it it's straight on without any need for modification and extra little bits it'll cost more than 570 installed.

For the process west installed, that is cheap though. If I was in the market I'd drive up and do it.

If you could be bothered you could do it then sell it for more :)

Its true, you can get them that cheap, and they do they job great.
A few people on here, and other forums, and even more in real life run them, and they do the job great.

I think $1100 for a TMIC is insanity, but thats my opinion.

I have legitimate question though, doesnt process west use chinese cores like everyone else? there website states they get OS heat exchanged cores.
I am huge on bang for buck, maybe its because im not loaded, and more honestly i do all my own work, and like paying what something is worth, not what someone is charging.

I would be very interested to know this though^^^
