How to install JDM Pedal

Postby vp920b » Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:49 pm

Hi all,

I just bought JDM pedal from Japan parts.

Just wondering, how to install this pedal? Need to screw or drill? Or just direct fit?

A bit confuse since no instruction given.

Anyway, happy with the services, 3 days arrive in front of my home.

Thanks

The brake and clutch you just remove the stock rubber pads and slip the new ones over. You will need to use some soapy water as lube as they are very tight fit.

Slide the bottom and sides in then use your foot on the pedal to push down hard and upwards to clip the top edge in.

The accelerator pedal you have to unclip the harness then unbolt the whole pedal assembly out of the car. Use a hammer and punch with a vice to get the pin out then the same to get the new pedal on.

It's all pretty fiddly but take your time and don't break the pedal with your hammer :)

Thanks Jim for the reply.

Maybe I will install it when I service my car.

But do you have a picture for step by step install? I still didn't get the idea.

Thanks.

Note the bit about the accelerator pedal cable, which obviously does not apply as we have electronic throttles. Just disconnect the wiring harness.

That's for the STI pedals isn't it? The JDM pedals are the same as in the thread I posted, noting that when I bought mine they did not come with any instructions which wasn't very helpful.

For anyone who tries to install the Gen5 STi pedals to their Gen4 like I did, you will need to shave back (with a stanley knife) a very tiny section on the rear of the accelerator pedal for the STi pedal to fit. Very easy to do and thanks to PHAT GT he guided me through it.
Just in case anyone was wondering on how to install these to their Gen4.
