No offence intended to Tim with that comment, but primarily sound and AT response. Engines with an auto box behind them respond differently to system changes than those with manual boxes.

Then the price is raised to cover the shortfall, the early adopters are always the winners with my stuff, no exceptions thus far. Anyone who has purchased our stuff knows that is for sure

Yeah, I noticed that, but I thought this time round you might have already included a little contingency in the product cost :-)

Are there any headers left for the auto???

Nick, I have a set against your name.

I will invoice the orders in next couple of days

I may have just 1 set left after I fill the orders recieved last night.

I also have very nice set of BLACK HPC coated headers too (suit manual) :) Pics when I collect them

I guess I should have asked this before but are the auto headers that I ordered HPC coated? if not are you able to offer this (obviously, I'd pay for the extra cost).

HPC COATINGS on Raptor headers

Postby Tradewind » Thu May 31, 2012 6:01 pm

People I will soon release a product name specific the the headers, that way when you list all yours mods in your signature or whatever you will have something other to say about your headers than just "Raptor Headers".

With HPC Coating, firstly I try to refer people to our webpage for the headers anytime I talk about price, sometimes I forget. You see there is NO mention of HPC coating there at all, this does mean that the parts clearly are not HPC coated but rather painted in high temp paint only

I can definitely provide a HPC coating option or you can organise it yourself, I say this because everything has to be shipped south, then back north, then back south.east or west again to the customer - which adds up. So when I quote you a price for a fully coated set of headers and think the price is up, well yes there are genuine reasons for that and I am sure my exhaust tech has a margin too for his part in it too. Nonetheless, these are headers with a proven gain beyond anything offered previously, you get the best there is when combined with HPC coating.

SO - AUD$990 at this time for a complete set of Raptor headers with BLACK HPC coating.

I suppose some of you will even recall in our other major thread that a forum member said our headers were simply "cheap", so I guess not everyone likes the fact I try to manage the price to lowest I can.

OK

Thats 2 auto sets going away for HPC

For those optioning HPC - I will invoice you now, then your items are being sent away and coated - expect around 2 weeks before I then ship them to you. In the event your product becomes lost you will be notified and either refunded or we make a new set, certainly no risk to you.

Everyone else, you pay and you headers are shipped out a day or 3 later.

All clear?

With postage nowdays insurance can be purchased. If you want insurance on your products being posted to you, its about $10 extra

More about HPC

Of course there are other colours than black available but black is best for these cars otherwise the pipes can become slightly visible from the front if they are silver.

HPC also assists flow by keeping the temperature in the exhaust gasses which keeps the gas viscosity low, also for those in cold climates where your roads are salted in winter the HPC protects the base metal of the headers from corrosion caused by salt spray.

Let me mentioned something here that keep popping up for AUTO owners.

I CANNOT TUNE THE TCU.

It is very difficult when the programming of the TCU reach a point where the TC wants to lockup and others points where the car wants to shift back and forth.

As the tranny gets old, this shifting becomes annoying. Its very difficult sometimes to minimise where the TCU wants to shift and sometimes where throttle usage becomes aggressive. I know this because I have an Auto myself and sometimes I just feel like ripping it out because I cannot tune it and wonder what Subaru was thinking. What use is the power button?????

This comment has got flat nothing to do with extractors, it was a temporary comment/discussion about tuning an automatic transmissions shift points for better torque management when a supercharger is fitted to engine.

Lib3.0LR - just know that extractors are for engines, they don't connect to the gearbox, you won't get confused anymore if you stick to that thought :)

Yes, my comment was totally off topic. I was writing about my auto transmission build, nothing to do with the extractors, hence the edit and delete. So to make this post relevant, extractors are an engine mod only to improve the flow dynamics of the hot exhaust gases thus removing the restrictions built in to the OEM exhaust and yielding more engine power and torque with the appropriate tune.

What Edward was indicating is that the extra power and torque may impact the Transmission Control Unit which the tuning community has not yet opened and translated in the same way that we know about the Engine Control Unit. The lack of tuning available for the auto may manifest in slightly different behaviour of the auto box than we had when the engine was standard. There are other methods of dealing with this or you can live with it by a slight change of your driving style. Send me a PM if you want to pursue this line further to avoid polluting this thread.

For me, it was the pursuit of the power that was main interest and the extractors were not available when I did my 1st engine mod. If they were available back then, I would have done the extractors as the 1st step of my engine build.
