G'day all

I have an old school Gen 1 Liberty and lovin' it. It was only ever going to be a work hack, but am now keen to mess around with it. Been looking around at Subaru forums and thought this looked the most sensible. I'm a 40(ish) year old family bloke who has fond memories of an era when I was involved in club level motorsport, now 3 kids...private schools blah,blah,blah....have pillaged my cash. So now I have permission to play a little and the little Sub will be my choice. It's probably not the best choice in the early range, but it's what I have and I will make it work and have fun.

So my first port of call is the suspension. I have always played with RWD cars in the past, the knowledge of FWD is limited :? . So I thought I would turn to you good people to give me some ideas. The car will need to be used on the road still, but I am willing to forsake some comfort for handling. What sort of spring rates would be a good fast road/track application? And any brand have an advantage over another? I'm not too scared to spend the coin, I just want to do it right, I don't have the funds to try 3 or 4 rates and combos. All suggestions will be greatfully accepted.

Thanks in advance

Grant

Welcome Grant, you have made a sensible choice.

Is your Gen1 a FWD?

His post says that he has never had a FWD to play around with before, only RWD so I would suggest that it is.

Good choice for a muck-around car mate, and welcome aboard! :)

G'day Grant and welcome,

A good and very helpful bunch of people in here (I was going to say "guys" but then wondered if there are any female members here - are there?). No matter what question you ask, there is probably someone who has already done it before.

Anyway, if you can make it, come along to the cruise on Sunday. It will be my first cruise with the group, too and, in my experience with cruises with the last car I had, the more is definitely the merrier.

Where in SA are you?

Hope to meet with you soon.

cheers,

bj

Yes. There's not many, but they do exist. :)
