Not sure what you mean by IAC?

In my previous Learning View IAM was at 0.5 due to fuelling problems and a boost leak.

You can read this link to bring yourself up to speed on how the ECU manages knock.

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/ ... yExplained

In this LV screenshot I still have some knock but my AFR are scaled beautifully. Also IAM is good at 1.0 so overall not bad.

Again this is all a time and money scenario. I'll either go back again and see if they can remove the knock or have a crack myself with tuning myself.

We are interested in numbers but they still don't mean much as it's a *hub dyno* and can only really be compared to your stock readout on the same dyno.

A more meaningiful result will come out of the dyno day

Glad your issues are sorted!

EDIT: Whoops meant hub dyno :/

I should have the graphs today at some stage. It just got too late last night as it was just me and the tuner there till 10:00pm.

With reference to my initial tune on this dyno. Prior to the first tune the car made 153awkw on the Revzone dyno and with all the bolt ons I've now made a little over 210awkw for some perspective.

The Revzone dyno is a hub dyno so there are a couple of things to consider.

1. As a tuning tool it's great as results are repeatable due to the lack of strapping, wheels, tyres, roller slip etc fudging the figure.
2. It's much harder to get a really smooth curve as the lack of inertia at the hub picks up any little change in throttle whilst the wheels and tyres on the roller has more inertia and smooths out those minor changes.

I've got to say I'm really happy with the injector scaling and the MAF scaling.

There's still a bit of work to do to remove those timing corrections in my Learning View screenshot, but I've started logging and will have a crack at uploading a new map to see if I can make a correction.

One thing I've learnt from this experience is that it's really in your best interest to learn to log and tune your car as cost and time pressures will see most cars leaving the workshop with tunes as best they can get it within the time allocated.

I am looking forward to dyno day to see what correction there is between a roller and a hub dyno.

Overall though I'm going to keep working at getting the car driving as best I can with no corrections being made across the ECU.

Woops I meant hub dyno, post edited!!

Mmm 153 is a high number for a stock liberty, even though it's an STI, as I said the hub dyno does give a higher read out. Look at the last melbourne dyno day results for some perspective, stock cars were getting around 130-135 on the roller dyno, so will be interesting to see if it can still crack the 200 at the dyno day!

If only I had the time and patience to learn how to log my car and read the data, it is a very useful way to keep track of everything with your car and make sure it's working fine, it's good that you've got that going for you bruce!

I reckon get yourself a Tactrix cable. About $200 from the Tactrix site including delivery and get all the software off the RomRaider site and I'm happy to help you get started.

Haha believe me bruce I've played with the idea a dozen times in the past few months, I just don't see myself having the patience to learn it all! But I'll keep the offer in mind :D

Hi Rome,

Actually the 153kws was produced with the following installed but no tune. The dump pipe, turbo inlet pipe, panel filter, fuel pump and the 3 port boost solenoid.

Having said that Ain recently ran his car on the Springy dyno in stock form without a tune but the Phat dump and Phat quads for a little over 150kws.

So in all honesty I wouldve thought a slight difference between the two as expected and again it's just a tuning tool and I've used the same dyno for all work so as far as a precentage gain its over the 25% as can be expected with the VF52 and supporting mods.

I must admit I really excited about getting the car running as best as possible and as long as the people I PM don't get too narky I should be right. But so far I've been told I'm on the right track so I'm feeling pretty confident.

Cheers.

yeah i will get one really soon, just gotta pinch my sisters old laptop.

thanks for the offer to help get started, i might take you up on that soon ;)

2 cars running from rev zone on the same roller dyno should give a good indication of the difference

AWESOME! Thanks for all the info and updates :D
Quick Q:
So a Tactrix + software + laptop = monitoring & tuning vs. ECUDatascan which is for monitoring + gauges + GPS + etc on the fly w/o needing a laptop?
