The general consensus seems to be that sticking with the stock 2.25" exhaust piping is the way to go for the N/A H6 to minimise low rev torque loss.

With these extractors and high flow cats is sticking with 2.25" piping likely to be optimal

a) for an N/A H6
b) for a charged H6

I actually dont have those answers yet, with supercharging I generally would go an extra 6-12mm increase in pipe diameter - depending on what outcome I have as a goal

I will get to figuring that out, part of that will be to review what my customers are running now and look at their results and comments about noise external and internal of the car - it is all important

An mature aged fellow here in Mackay recently fitted an XFORCE cat back system and it really drones in the cabin when in 6th gear on a slight incline which annoys him, a younger age driver would probably be back a gear or 2 and would near hear this and think the system to be perfect. I this case it seems the rear mufflers need more noise suppression capacity and the pipe diameters while a little large may still be ok as the car does make good power as verified by XRT.

I will figure it out for supercharging for sure, but I wont spend much more time on the NA part now I have the headers sorted and know they only offer benefits with no negatives, from here I want flow with decent noise suppression

Yes it's really good, I highly recommend the modification, Subaru should have made the car like this from the start.

That was the exact same comment Kleinerbastler made also, why didnt Subaru offer an arrangement like the Raptor header from the factory when the results are so obviously better

I dare say it's because the GT boys would all buy 3.0Rs =)

subaru saw the potential of the 3.0R to exceed the GT's as a better performing car.

hence why they down tuned it.

4kw less, max torque and hp reached 600rpm later...?
would you be happy buying a turbo'd 4 banger knowing a naturally aspirated 6 was quicker straight off the show room floor?

thats why 8)

A high performance unstressed NA engine, thats what would have been on offer with some slight changes to exhaust and tune.

I am not that familiar of the perf specs of the 4 cyl turbo in this model of Subaru - however the 3.0 output can now be adjusted upwards very respectably.

June is rolling around and more of the Raptor headers will be available. I think the exhaust tech has a set ready for me now but ......... I aint there to collect them, detail them, paint them and subsequently package and post to customer

So, yesterday i got my "german headers" installed ;). Unbelievable what better headers do to this engine - like night and day. I think a free exhaust, headers and 200cpi cats and tuning and you have a very good car and can think twice about a sc. I realy can´t understand why Subaru doesn´t do that from factory, such a great engine.

Wow, that was fast done

You Europeans live in a Frost box, cold place even in spring. A non intercooled charger system is all you need here! An intercooled charger system with the full exhaust will see the 3.0 eating some Ferrari's for lunch I think

I expect a lot of people will be very happy with headers and exhaust upgrade and tune, its a huge power gain. Modding the air intake is just for dreamers, the exhaust system is where the real gains are at the beginning, could focus on the intake later. Now its proven the manifolds/exhaust is where Hp is laying asleep :)

I have another plan for even more NA power in the near future, this R&D is highlighting all the areas of improvement for this engine.
