The headers have changed he gas flow characteristics of the engine and "maybe" that helped, however when you consider how the system is setup ......maybe it has just been my good luck
In addition - the air flow meter is a LONG way from the throttle body, now from the instant the throttle plate flicks open when you ask for power - there is a lag of air movement back to the AFM, the air stretches initially and this doesnt lead to an exact same air movement (at same instant) back at the air flow meter meaning there is a lag until air speed increases through meter and extra fuel is added. Subaru and all others put it back there possibly because it smooths out the air intake pulses of the engine, particuarly at idle. That big black box on back of throttle body all plays a part in smoothing out air pulses.

The hesitation is the one thing that ticks me off enough to sell the car, it's so annoying as I drive in traffic all day because I use my car for work, 40,000km a year of hesitations is enough to drive somebody crazy![]()
How much are the headers Tim ? perhaps that's a good place to start, Edward has suggested a few things now which I have done, replace plugs, cleaned MAF, etc as he mentions in a previous post, the one thing I haven't done is replace the A/F ratio and Oxygen Sensors, that over a $1600 job just for parts as there is 4 of them, bloody Subaru ripoffs, so I am thinking of buying one of each and then changing one and see if it helps, if not change the other, I have to get a hit somehow with it if that's the problem.
You need to offer interest free finance on the SC kits
