I guess Taylor each to their own. I reckon though if you cut it out you will need to spend even more money than the wrap, as it would need to be sprayed in that area and filled or you'll have a notched out bit where it sits presently.
I guess I don't want to lose any strength in that area either.
The way that Phat will cut mine when he does my FMIC is cut the bar so that it is in line with where the end of that vertical pillar is, therefore there is nothing remaining that needs repainting, and the intercooler core will sit flush with the edge. I don't see how the front bar losing that small bit of support would make any noticeable difference with anything, check out some of the JDM bumpers that have a massive opening alot wider than ours that has no vertical support at all!
Your option is a really good idea for someone who isn't going the FMIC route. At night you won't even be able to tell it's there at all, it wouldn't be noticeable in daylight either until someone was close enough to see it!
