It's good enough mate for the concours 900.

Anyway just use 5.5"-6.5" pads, 7" is too big to use on a car.

Sealant, heaps. Can pick from Zaino, Blackfire, depends on what do you after, looks/durability?

Zaino Z2 or Z5 is good sealant. Blackfire also very glossy..

Get it from waxit.com However give Eraser a go, similar to IPA but much better

I used to have a Concours 900, Takes ages and ages to correct paint and diminish abrasive polish's (have to work it in heaps longer) but good for a learner. Vibrates like a mofo too.

Top job Hamish.
Just before I bought my car the young fella had it "detailed", surprise surprise it's a pretty shit job. Cars black.

I'm trying to polish some swirls and holograms out of my paint at the moment, it's not real bad
so I'm just trying by hand, no machine. I went to buy some swirlx today but I think they ran out so
ol mate got me on to "Ultimate compound" maguires stuff. I tried some on a small setion first and it
seem to work really well. I'm pretty sure the previous owner has had it waxed or polished.

Will the ultimate compound work without doing a decontamination?
Or am I just wasting elbow grease on removing the old waxes etc?

I moved the car into full sunlight and inspected the test panel, looked heaps better but not 100%

Decontamination is a must if it is heavily contaminated.

Hand polishing will never yield 100%, Most of the abrasives are diminishing meaning they need alot of work to work them in and takes a while to do so even with a machine polisher. It should improve the finish however.

1+ also the mothers 3 step cut/polish/wax system is good for beginners, we gotta start from somewhere

I like dodo juice clay lube and zaino or clay magic clay, I have found a lot of brands including megs can marr with paint and the clay breaks up after a while

I thought decontamination was a chemical. What's the white soapy looking stuff that you put at the start of all your pics Hamish?
Or is it all top secret...
Also in your before and after pics are the after shot taken after you've applied a wax or straight after a cut as such?
