It looks more like they did a mould off an original STi lip.

It looks better than an ultrex lip. I've had all 3 in my possession at some stage.

I am considering one as a cheap alternative to a genuine lip, and if it looks like a similar build to the ultrex lip i dont see any problems with it fitting a 3.0 bumper

Ok folks.

the Xcess Motors lip has two different models
http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-07-Subaru-Le ... 983wt_1396
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-07-Subaru-Le ... 983wt_1396

now the Ultrex Lip to suit the Pre-facelift GT's DOES fit the Pre facelift 3RB's
So i assume that this would also be applicable?
or is there differences in the JDM bars that i'm not seeing?

I want a lip but refuse to pay STi money for one

EDIT:

Simon
i'd be happy to combine postage to your location if they will do it
and if you could transport it via e-go to Hobart depot i'd pay the local postage..?

Mine turned up yesterday. Will wait until I get my front mount fitted before I put the new lip on

Testiment to the lips flexability as tried by the wife yesterday...... :angry2:

She parked it into the gutter which bent the lip right down. Lost the STi Badge, Ive ordered 3 replacements, thinking of the future.

Apart from a few scratches on the front edge, the lip and all mounting points are unscathed. Ive already buffed the scratches out mostly and a hit of silicon has made the remaining marks only visible about a foot away.

If it was an STi or Ultrex it would of been goodnight.

There is pics of one here somewhere on a white post facelift GTB in white. It has a white lip.

I have just landed a genuine one of these from a local RSLC member
Part# BLF-SL05-JDM
and it'd be too flexible to paint, any touch and teh paint would just crack off. however in think just some good plastic polish will keep it looking nice

at the right price too :D
will hopefully fit today and confirm fitment for pre-facelift 3RB

genuine copy?
either way it'll do the required job

being local (like 3km away) saved all the hassles with postage :assassin:

I buff my STi lip with a rubber restorer/rejuvenator every so often to keep it looking good.

TRIAL FIT

Image

same "gap" issue on the 3RB as the ultrex lip. viewtopic.php?f=44&t=11836
not noticible
Image

FITTING TIPS (for 3RB owners)

you can use the factory centre mounting position
and also use two of the rear-most factory positions and clips

you will need to remove the little winglets to allow the lip to sit in the correct position and re-drill new holes in the lip to allow them to be re-fitted.
this will allow a number of factory positions and clips to be utilised in affixing the lip to the car
To affix the centre section securely, drilling small holes in the underside lip of the original bumper and using speed nuts (as Mark has posted before, or be ghetto and use some multipurpose polyethylene ties) will be needed and is a simple task.

as has been said, there's no way you're going to bust this easily due to it's flexibility, which is a good thing
but it won;t move around once mounted correctly.

happy lipping.

can't see it under normal circumstances (unless you're a cat about to be run over...)
And you have OCD... :D

you also couldn't live with the scratch on my drivers door handle or dent on my bonnet and scratches on the front bumper

I'm with mark on this. Sure you don't see it unless you look for it but I'd know it was there
