braided brake lines!

hey guys,
i recently got new DBA street series rotors and dixcel M pads fitted in my lib.
need to know what are good braided brake lines for my set up? and where can i purchase them from?

Any ADR compliant braided brakes lines will do. Theyre all the same. Just make sure theyre ADR compliant.

I just fitted Goodridge ones to my Outback. Can be found pretty cheap on Ebay from the UK.

Best looking/feeling lines I have is APP, sourced through Phat off these forums. The quality of them is just much nicer than goodridge and hel lines I have, the swages look like proper hydraulic lines not just dinky wire rope press swages etc.

Is anyone going to notice the difference in brake hose flex? Particularly if they don't have a brace for the brake master cylinder?

IMHO, this is the best mod to make to your brakes. There is a noticeable difference in pedal feel as Ive found before and after installation.

I did upgrades of brakes, then master cylinder stopper, then braided lines. Braided lines made the most noticeable difference.

just make sure the complaince has

FMV 106SS on the ends of the lines.. i was under the impression the APP ones DONT have that standard. i could be wrong

Ive never seen a custom set of lines use that compliance or any identifying mark.

So I dont see why any other set needs to. The factory rubber lines have no compliance numbers.

the only lines i know for certain that are ADR approved are goodridge, not sure about the others.

ADRs for brakelines insist on hard fixed attachments for brakeline mounts to the struts etc. So the rego boys get excited (bad) about clips or squeezed on connections on brakelines. STI are OK, I also believe HEL and maybe Goodridge are alright too. Something about the brakelines possibly rubbing within the attached mounting. Compared to the plain rubber you think they'd be cheering any improvements regardless.

BTW anyone know if there's any difference between brands of braided lines? or are they pretty much the same?? (obviously excluding the $10 eBay specials!!)

to me, they all look the same, if they are made the same way to do the same job, i dont see the difference. i think it just comes down to what type of material they use

ask the guy whos EBAY specialls on his EVO 9 if he thought the same thing..

He bought them for $79 on EBAY.... ended up writing his car off.

FMV106SS is the compliance to make them legal and if something happens due to brakes and your aftermarket lines are the cause ill be glad im not in that shoes of the owner.. for the sake of a couple of hundred dollars is it worth risking

2) someone elses
3) insurance
4) your car

OEM may not have it on there probably cause they have a blanket standard from OEM.

All aftermarket ones that meet the standards HAVE TO HAVE FMV106SS or equal standard printed on it..

Eg HEL and Goodridge etc

I had mine for my Legacy custom made.
no ADR compliance, but the peace of mind that they are built by hand by my own mechanic who has certification for making them for aviation putrposes,
and makes them for his own rally cars (ARC back in the day)

and 2x cableties to the struts take care of mounting them
