Steering query

I have just purchased a MY02 Liberty which is stock standard (2.0litre, auto). I have not done any mechanical work on it yet but noticed when driving it home that when cornering the steering wheel has some jerky 'feedback' movement best described i guess, a bit like if the tyre occasionally rubs along a small ridge in the road and fed back through the steering. No strange noises in the power steering or leaks. Car drives well in straight line and the problem occurs on winding roads, roundabouts but not really noticeable on highway. Tyre pressures look ok. Just wondering if this is something you may know of or what your recommendations may be for further investigation?

Tyre pressures look ok.

Make sure the typre pressure are OK.

Check wheels alignment/balance
Check CVs are still OK.

+1 to what champ said, cv joints may have loose boot causing grease to escape causing tougher operation and also weights fallen off wheels causing "vibration". As its only cornering my bet is cv joints...

stock wheels, correct offsets? bad (low) offsets can produce tramlining, directional instability.

what he said,also tyre brand,sizes (same),direction etc.Also check steering fluid condition.When these were new some cars suffered from excessive feedback which needed rack replacement.
