Well time has come to sell but what next?

Postby GTB-R » Wed Jan 11, 2012 2:56 pm

My car was new in mid 2009, I have 6 months left of the warranty before the extended warranty kicks in. Cars done nearly 40k now. Usually I'd be looking at the next gen car but to be honest I'm not enamoured with the look of the current shape. There seem to have been clear improvements over the gen 4 but don't think I can stomach the look.

I assume the car will just be traded in unless going through the hassle of a private sale is really worth it.

Then what next? The BRZ?

It's definitely worth private sale on car sales, even If you get a few dud emails, one tyre kicker you will always get more money then a stealership.

You looking beyond Subaru? I wouldn't even bother with a gen5 at all, maybe a 2012 wrx/sti

It is interesting how it does come down to a level of style, the current shape feels as though I could have purchased an Accord Euro or even a Camry. I'd like to get past that & seriously consider a gen5 but I doubt it.

I bought up the BRZ only because I thought it might be something interesting to own for a few years however I'm a fat white 40 year old so maybe not the best look, perhaps sitting behind some darkened glass may be best.

I've looked through a few adds to see what they're going for. Drive says I should be looking about 36.5k private for a sale, didn't realise how much has come off in the last few months but as always the market will dictate price. Some are asking upward of 40k for an 07 too.

I'd assumed it would be a very specific buyer who's looking for one of these as it's not even a wagon.

I haven't seen any shots of the upcoming Impreza, might be worth a shot.

I meant the MY12 2011 WRX/STi (the wide body versions).

Audi is porn as well, do they still make the S-line edition's on the A4's?

Well keep in mind he did purchase a XK Jag for a bit just to resell it.

So he can afford to purchase a fairly new 135i.
If you don't mind getting a slightly older car get a 2005-2008 M5.

If it were me and I had the money (I wish) I'd be looking at the newer Audi S4's with the supercharged 6 or a BMW 335.

My last car was a 2000 S3 and i'd happily go back to that interior any day over my 2007 Lib. It's crazy, I wish Subaru would put more into the interior.

I also think the Volvo PCP looks pretty cool (despite the odd naming choice), especially for a volvo, although that's not really comparable to these other sedans.

What;s your budget?

Go European... can't go wrong with a 6 or 8 cylinder European car.

still loving the S4 I got... build quality and performance is nothing like what the Liberty could ever deliver.

The XK went & the XJ portfolio came.

Have already owned the Audi S3 6 speed current shape.

The RS3 would be nice but it would need to be an import & sadly it's only in DSG.
