Just as a side note, i've found gumtree to be great for s/h camera gear. Lots of bargains to be had.

Tang, is this the same lens you were talking about? I read your first post on this thread and you said the lens you bought was $2300 was that a different lens or meant to be this one? Or simply a depreciation in cost since you bought it?

That's the 85mm f/1.8 that I was suggesting for you to get.
I have the 85mm f/1.2L. It's the complete opposite to the 85/1.8; it's slow and heavy (whereas the 85/1.8 is fast and light).

not really because macro lenses usually shoot about a 1:1 ratio meaning you would have to stand quite far back not very practical as its a fixed focal length. for car pics you want something with a bit more play like an 18-55mm or something similar

very nice. how long have you been shooting for? i like the fish eye one very much.maybe some feedback would be: be aware of what else is in the photo when you take it, so as an example with the one of the front of the wrx you had other stuff in the background. in that instance fill the frame with the subject so as to bring full attention to what you are looking at. the other would be brush up on your rules (which are made to be broken) but are a good starting point. take the first photo of the wrx, to make it more interesting two of the rules come into play; the rule of thirds & leading lines. the backdrop is a cement wall which come halfway up the photo next time try to use the wall as a leading line through the photo at one of the thirds of the shot. for example the wall might be at the top third of the frame and the foreground would be the cement of the parking lot which doesn't draw much attention but acts as a canvas to draw attention to the car. hope that helps?? but great work. ill do an edit to show you what I'm talking about :D :D

This is good stuff, looking forward to seeing the edit, been at it a couple of months started with a canon 1000D which last about 3 weeks until I got bored of its features and then I decided to get a 60D after that, so been using that ever since. I'd really like to get heavily into it mostly for hobby purposes cause I have the time to put into it. Most of my pay like I assume the rest of you are goes to either the car or more camera gear haha

do you see what i mean about rule of thirds? and the sky is a good backdrop? i hope this helps because photography can be quite daunting at times!
