Hamish (or anyone), any tips / products for cleaning and making the front dash plastics look nice in the Liberty?

Hey Hamish what kind of products would you use to clean those material-like areas? e.g. the roof lining of our cars?

They were vinyl door cards so just used a leather/vinyl cleaner and agitated with a very soft brush. For material the best way is to get a steam cleaner or something that will clean and then extract the water/detergent from the material so the water doesn't dry and leave the mineral's behind to stain.

Chris are you talking about the centre console plastics or the vinyl dash? Plastics, a soft or heavy diluted all purpose cleaner that's recommended for plastics and doesn't contain anything dangerous, If your talking about the dash, any leather/vinyl cleaner like Z9 will be great as it only has mild cleaner's that stain or give a dry look

Ahh, I see. So a leather cleaner would be fine for the dash even though it's not leather? Yep, I was referring to the dash rather than the centre console. I've got a few dirt looking marks from hands or knees near the passenger side airbag (above the silver strip). I have some ArmorAll Leather Protection but I guess that's going to put a coat over it rather than clean it.

How about the doors? For example, I have some shoe scuffs near the speakers down the bottom there and I'd like to get them off too. Would a similar cleaner be OK for that?

Like i said for plastic's diluted apc, Throw out the armorall it doesn't dry on the leather which means it attracts dust/dirt and gives the leather a terrible shiny finish

So for Christmas I got the Meguiars essentials gift bucket. I intend on having my car detailed and corrected at the end of January so thought this was a super idea!!!

Included is:

Microfiber wash pad
Super-glide microfibre chamois (should I still get a waffle weave and not use this??)
Terry toweling cloths
Quik interior detailer cleaner
Soft wash gel
Hot rims non acid wheel cleaner
No smear glass cleaner

I have all the other essentials; 2 buckets, wheel cleaner brush, high pressure washer etc etc but is there anything on the list I should throw away and replace with better products (keeping in mind that I am purely just looking to maintain the quality of the paintwork and don't need to go harry..)

Feel free to add additional items of need to the list, spent a bit of time browsing carcareproducts.com.au last night so have a rough idea of costs.

Cheers

Thanks Hamish. I did look at that thread last night also but I guess what I'm trying to find out is if what I have in terms of current car cleaning products will suffice. I realize there are better brands of gear then Megiuars but will it do for what I require?
