Where Can I Get A Set of Tein Springs?

Springs, shock absorbers, swaybars,
Brakes, Wheels and Tyres

Postby MY07GT » Tue Dec 11, 2007 11:58 am

Hey guys!

Yeah everything should be finalised very soon guys!

He has a few sets coming within the next 2 days. Spoke with him yesterday.

He was having issues with his computer and all the Japanese programs he was running needed originals from Japan. So he was waiting on those.

Please also note guys that during the xmas season heaps of people are sending xmas gifts around the world so there is less airspace.

If you can get thru to Phat PM me. I will see Phat today and ensure you 3 have a set each sent to you. Please let me know.

Phil.

Phil, what happened with you and Phat? :dntknw:

When I finally got hold of Phat during the day and told him I'd drop by at 6:30 or so to pick up the springs, he was okay with that. Got me all excited because then I could get my baby lowered tomorrow.

Then I get a call from you saying Phat dropped by Homebush for dinner, but he never called me after that. :lazy2:

Shucks, I gotta wait yet a bit more for my springs. :umnik2:

Sorry Jim!

We didnt leave till like 10:30. We had dinner and a bit too much beers.

You can pick it up off Phat tomorrow Jim.

He may be round ISMR so near your work. Just buzz him early in the morning if its easier to pick up.

Ahh, finally have possession of the springs. Thanks again for making it happen Michael. Now, just gotta find a place to get them installed!

I'll drop by IS Motor Racing tomorrow to see if they can accommodate me since they never bothered to call me back when I called them up today. :?

Oh, and thank you too, Phil for being Michael's line of communication when things got broken.

Got a call from Indy at IS Motor Racing the next morning with an apology on not calling me back. He offered to install the springs for me the same day. Now that's great customer service! Recognising the problem and offering solutions rather than excuses. :ok:

So I dropped off my car and a few hours later returned to pick up something that had a lot more attitude. Don't get me wrong, the STi springs are great, but there was still quite a bit of body roll on the hard corners and it just never quite felt settled. Plus it just didn't look quite right at that ride height for my own taste.

Now the car sits more aggressively, the ride is firmer and more controlled, and cornering has much reduced body roll. On smooth surfaces and on minor bumps and cracks it actually feels a bit better than the STi. The Tein's would absorb it a bit better, whereas the STi would jostle the car a bit. Ride comfort is same as the STi's, which is quite an accomplishment.

On sharp bumps the difference leans towards the negative. The impact hits a little harder and the car shudders a bit more than the STi's. But I guess that's the trade off. Overall though, I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

In any case, I'm still in the 'honeymoon' period. I found that after 2 - 3 months, when the springs have well and truly settled, the ride tends to get a bit rough, so we'll see how the Teins fare.

Jim, you should post some before and after shots of the new ride height.

I'll try to get around to it this weekend. In the meantime, just imagine Phil's (MY07GT) car as the 'after'.

Only my car is the uglier, fatter cousin.

Gonna hold onto them for a few months to see how the Teins turn out. I just like having the option of reverting back to the pinks if I need to for any reason.

Plus I'll probably put the pinks back on when I sell the car. Not only does it make selling a STi easier because it actually still has STi parts on it, but I can sell the Teins out.

Here are some post-lowering pictures as requested. I'll probably change the wheels in the future some time, because Trieu said they were the ugliest MF wheels he's ever seen. :?

Here's 1 picture of the before:

And here are some of the after. To the naked eye the differences are very subtle. But the drive and ground clearance is definitely different!

In terms of non-technical, the gap in front has been reduced from 3 fingers to 2 fingers, and the gap in back has moved from 2 fingers to barely 1.

LOL!!! Hey hey! Making me out to be the bad guy :)

They just aren't as nice as your STi rims man....

Nice pics but, I like the ride height alot better now. Makes the car look alot tidier and the wheels now look bigger too.

I dont mind the rims, looks good with the lowering, and really fills the guards - how's the ride with the S-techs + 19's?
