As hotwire has pointed out stalling the auto up on the brake is the least amount of shock through the drivetrain.
In my 04 gt, I can launch at 3100rpm at full boost. And it is a massive difference. Infact on a brisk night it will whee spin all four.
Launching like this does not kill autos. Heat does. Everyone with am auto box in a gt should invest in an auto trans oil cooler. This is the biggest insurance policy for them.
For interests sake, my drag car runs a manualised auto box with a 4500rpm stall convertor, and I launch at 4200rpm off the line and have lifted wheels. This is with a trans brake but same effect really.
Just don't stall it up for too long on the spot and dont be a sissy with the left foot. Clamp that brake pedal.
As for laws, technically the law requires you to reach the legal speed limit in a timely manner (slow acceleration is actuallly an offence). But due to discretion (and thanks to dick head street racers) this will not likely take prevalence over a cops interpretation of hooning.
