Another tow bar question

Am on the hunt for a manual GTB sedan and unfortunately all the ones I've seen don't have that tow bar cut out. I don't like roof racks for my bikes so lets rule that out now.
I also don't like the look of the tow bar tongue that doesn't need a cut out that snakes up from under the bar, so that's out too.

Anyway I have noticed though that a number of 2.5 n/a sedans have a tow bar cut out. It looks like they have this black sub panel on the bottom half of their bar that has the exhaust cut outs and tow bar cut out (for a square hitch). But the GTB sedans that don't have this black sub panel have a silver one with only cut outs for the exhaust.

My questions - is the black sub panel with exhaust + tow bar cut outs a Subaru accessory or aftermarket? If the former, does that mean I can only use a Subaru factory tow bar or will any Hayman Reese square hitch do? finally how much does this sub panel cost?

It's not a separate panel, its just part of the rear bar. The pre facelift was left unpainted. The cutout is also not a removable panel it is merely cut out to accommodate the hitch, this is not reversible.

To answer your second question the oem Subaru tow bar is a Hayman Reese product which has been rebranded.

Hmmm, that throws a spanner in the works!

Not wanting to give up just yet ... when I look at Tangcla's car http://www.tangcla.com/car.html doesn't it seem that sub panel is separate piece...unless of course he changed the entire rear bar?

That's an aftermarket panel which has been attached to the bar.
