Postby gujianping88 » Sat Oct 01, 2011 7:17 pm

My car is 04 liberty 3.0r, which is mclntosh audio system.

I find it is quite hard to change a HU to keep the stock amp, and find the Clarion EA1251 is useful for ipod. Is there any of this product still availiable now? Autobarn sell it? I find a ea1251E, is it a newer version? still work?
i find from aus Clarion website, ea1251B is 06 product, ea1251 is 09 product. which one for 04 mc HU? it seems version E is for European countries. which one you guys using?

Thanks for help :D :)

Do a search through the audio section and you will find all the answers you need.

Yes, you can by all means get JB Hifi to do the job. HOWEVER, I have never seen an install that was done at a JB's, Strathfield Car Radio etc that didn't look like a 3 year old "special" monkey did it. You get what you pay for, they may be cheap, but they WILL do a sh1t job and probably damage your interior.

Are trying to put the stock connector from the McIntosh into the Alpine? Offcourse its different, all headunits have different connectors, that why you must either cut it off and solder the alpine one on, or get a wiring harness that plugs into the stock subaru one and then solder the alpine one to that (better option)

If you are looking for an AUX in, there has been talk about it alot in the Audio section. Just search.

If you can, PM Svdx on the forum as he made adaptor cables for the McIntosh amp connector. Then you would run RCA's from this to your new headunit (1 pair for fronts, 1 pair for rears and 1 pair for sub). So the headunit you bought should have 3 sets of RCA's.

Alternitively, you can bypass the McIntosh amp by wiring the front and rear speakers directly to the headunit. However you would still need an amp of somesort to power the subwoofer.
