Thought so, it was pinging due to low fuel pressure.

well thats a first !!!

i have been using these pumps for about 6 years and have sold a few hundred without failure

do you have a fuel reg fitted to the car with those larger injectors to keep the fuel pressure under control ???

was the pump fitted 100% correct ???

did you run the tank low causing the pump to over heat due to sucking bubbles in the fuel due to poor return fuel rate ???

to many questions as pumps like the sard one do not just fail for no reasion

do you have a fuel reg fitted to the car with those larger injectors to keep the fuel pressure under control ??? - no i dont, I asked you about getting one when I purchased the SARD fuel pump, you said it wasnt really neccessary at the time

was the pump fitted 100% correct ??? - cant answer that as I wasnt the one who fitted it michael

did you run the tank low causing the pump to over heat due to sucking bubbles in the fuel due to poor return fuel rate ??? - when I came down to see you in august I told you that I dont run the tank low, as you warned me that if I run the tank low it will overheat.... and tony as my witness even said he doesn't do this with his car....cause he didn't know...until we were discussing about it

I'm the last one to plug AVO products, but for what it's worth my AVO held perfect pressure with my 740cc injectors at 100% duty.

I don't doubt the Sard is a better pump in general, but if you get a good one, the AVO can hold it's own.

Yes I remember that........ Have you checked the filter sock and pump carrier for any sediment????

But on the bright side, sounds like the pump might have been issue for the pinging.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

but when you bought the pump your car was not at the leavel is is today

did HPF fit a flow/pressure meter to the fuel system when the car was pinging at only 18psi to find the problem or just send you on your way with some lame excuise like bad fuel

the pump was the SARD 265lh as i told you it was (pump with the factory style clips at the top) which does not come on the SARD 235lh pump

depending on whos doing the testing the pumps will be rated differently eg: HKS rate this pump at 260lh which is sold in there GRB (new STI) fuel upgrade kit

ask for the pump back just to make sure they fitted the sard and not some other pump

Hello All,

For those who were there at yesterday's dyno day, you would of seen my car limp off the dyno........ :angry2:
Drove the car to scotts house with a fault code and car was in limp flashing mode " basically car lean on bank 1 "
We toke the intercooler off and found the hose that runs just under the manifold had come off....using ecudatascanner I was able to reset fault code / ecu and drove the car to Barwon heads with no problems so far, I'll be driving back to berwick this afternoon, hopefully things will stay that way  :?:

Jaydece's Mini Development Project

Postby Gambit » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:55 am

That's a shame, glad you sorted it out in the end, it sucks when the smallest of issues results in that. Still for 15psi of boost your car showed an impressive dyno curve, it looked very good for the power under the curve, much more potential in it for sure. Having said that it looks and sounds very impressive in the flesh! Nice to have met you too :)
