Did you re-use the standard Mcintosh amp setup? or just running it all off the head unit?

If you can use the standard amp, I'm going to consider changing my headunit too...!

Yeh I told them to use the stock components with the Alpine HU.

When I got the car back I noticed there was no bass coming out of the stock 'sub woofer' on the top parcel shelf.. Turns out they ran all 12 speakers through the amp but lucky #13 (the sub) didn't work so now I'm going to need to get a small 2 channel amp or so to power the sub.. What a bitch.

I didn't want an SQ car (Sound Quality car) as I just wanted to keep things as stock as possible. Also didn't want to replace the speakers as I think they are really good as confirmed by the installer.

Alan, I'm interested to know if the stock amp can be fully reused for all thirteen speakers. Could you please check? :)

I think it was a great thought and looks good but as you say the unit is not sitting flush and is wrong colour. Both these things would annoy the hell out of me. How much was the unit and also charges for custom installation?
