Subaru ECU Tune....UPDATE page 2....tune done

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Surely you wouldn't have to change the ECU. You now have a STI ECU, so basically I would assume you just flash that as if you actually had an STI.

How much was the STI ECU, and what sort of power/feel did it give?

YES... the stuttering is giving me the shits... I used to only feel in when the car was cold but now I am feeling it when the car is fully warmed up.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

On another point I always make a point to go back to the same dyno after each mod to check that most importantly everything is running OK and secondly to check the mod actually made some increase according to the dyno. Having said this though it also needs to be remembered that not all mods will show as as a result on a dyno.

What most of you have experienced is normal, with my last road car, I made 235rwkw on one dyno and 208rwkw on another.

Maybe SVM bought one of MRT's old dynos

I have the STi ECU, got it fitted to my non STi 04 GT by Subaru (not worth it btw), and have always wondered what the tuning options are for it. Perhaps to get one of Paul's tunes I'd need to get the standard ECU put back in.

You don't need to change anything, the ecu is not different .. just the maps.

You got to full accelerate!! like i said drive it HARDER mate!

Usually occurs during 2nd & 3rd gears during the 3000-4000 rev range.

Phil, how's your car holding up with the HKS EVC? I'm planning to get mine done at IS Motor Racing in Jan/Feb, but reading various posts on this forum some users are recommending an ECU re-turning to accompany it, while others say it's probably not necessary if the boost is still in safe terroritory.

Not sure whether or not I'll need to re-tune after the EVC. What's your experience so far?

Stock tune is quite rich, you should be fine with a boost controller until you get it tuned. That's my 2c.

Thanks. So I should get it tuned eventually, but that I'll be fine after installing the boost controller until the tune?

I am not sure if you had planned to do it but my advice would be to at least put it on a dyno and see how it is runnng.

It should be fine*, as long as you're not running crazy amounts of boost.

Hey Jim, HKS EVC5 has been working a treat.

Had no problems with the car and have had it in there for about 6 months.

No tune required. I know every thinks differently but every has seen my car run fine with no probs.

Im not doing anything crazy with the boost. Running max boost that the stock car runs. Our cars peak at 15psi but drops dramatically. I've just set the boost to run max 15psi and hold boost throughout the rev range.
