New Guy with GT STI

Postby Lachieg » Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:21 pm

Hey
Im Lachie, i have just purchased a MY06 liberty GT STI manuel.
I live in Geelong Vic, im thinking of keeping my car as stock as possible just like the owner before me.
Im 23 and Event Manager in geelong / melbourne. I used to be a salesman for subaru and VW but left that to do events ($$$$$ was better not really the job)
My previous car was a 1991 Liberty wagon manuel which was the strongest car i know, it lasted a roll, 300000+ kms and all the spastic mods that i did to it. (hense keeping this one stock.

My STI has an intersting story to it but im not sure if i belive it or not.
Its is a 2005 and doesnt have stock no eg 10/300, i was told it was the first one ever to be tuned by STI to gage the intrest of the public. i belive they call it a "mule".
its the only red one apparently and i have spent hours trying to track down anything to prove this theroy.
So if anyone could help me to get to the bottom of this that would be Great!

Cheers Lachie

Shout out to the the seed thats supplying the V16 C1 map update! Thanks

Welcome,
There is a thread about this exact car somewhere. Cant find it atm, but I believe it was the original mule.

Be sure to post some pics.

Hey Lachie.

Is this the one that was being sold in Croydon North?

Matt is right there was a thread about it recently and the person interested in purchasing it had it confirmed by Subaru by giving the VIN number.

I'm pretty sure a few members here were curious about the MY06 red STI and whether it was fact or not.

Here's a link the the thread...

hhhmmm bummer, so in short it seems like i bought a GT with Sti parts strapped onto it, they did a good job of it tho. It has a STI rims spare and all the parts are there by my eye except the cout number. ah well its fair nice tho and the punters (including me) will be none the wiser.
still dissapointing tho

Thanks for all your help
Ill stick some photos up soon

I think you need to re-read that thread, particularly the final page where youngy69 who works at Subaru confirmed it really is the first ever STi.....

Welcome Lachie. You have a unique and genuine vehicle mate. I wouldn't have any buyer's remorse if I were you - the sleuths here worked out it is the real deal. I'm sure you'll get plenty of enjoyment from it and when the mod bug bites again you'll find plenty of good advice around here... I say when because it sounds like you have a track record with mods :D
