Sway bars for 98 rx

Postby 98rx » Sun Jul 31, 2011 11:02 pm

Hi guys, and possibly girls ( don't want to leave anyone out)
It seems that sway bars will help the old girl get round corners quicker, just fitted Bridgestone adrenelins and they are pretty sticky :D The price i have been given for monroe struts both front and rear and an alignment came to just under a gorilla, (a thousand buckaroos) in Melb . Is this a fair price as i don't have a clue whats good and whats a rip off? how much would sway bars help over new shocks all round???
Thanks heaps for your input guys, you have all been super helpful.

Supplied and fitted plus alignment that seems ballpark.

Who was it through? Have you compared with some KYB struts? Sedan or wagon?

A rear sway bar is a great bang for buck mod.

Hi mate, thanks for the tip. It was a tyre place in Bell st over the road from Northland next to a super cheap auto, can't think of the name though, two guys run it. It is a sedan and i didn't know about the KYB struts (do they give a firmer ride). I don't mind a hard ride as i am used to it from my Suzuki 1100r
How much do you reckon a rear sway would cost roughly (fitted) and will they make much of a difference?
Thanks again for the pointers :-)

Approx $160 - $200 for a rear sway. Fitting is an easy DIY.

Any preferred brand of sway bay for the old girl? as ebay has a stack of different ones between 20 and 24 mm in thickness. Sounds like as you said the rear sway bar is the most important one over the front sway bay. Sounds like the sway bar is a better bet than the gorilla on the front and rear struts but of course all new would be the best if money wasn't the issue :( Thanks heaps :D

I fitted a 22 white line rear to my 2000 classic cuts out 90% of under steer.
They have three settings go the middle one.
