AVO TMIC vs Hyperflow TMIC

Hey guys,

I know there is quite a few discussions about TMIC on the forum but im finding it hard to make a choice on a TMIC for my 08 Liberty GT-B!!

I realise the Hyperflow has a bigger core than the AVO but the AVO seems like a lot better factory bolt on. The Hyperflow has no tabs to attach the engine cover but after speaking with John at Hyperflow (who by the way is a top bloke) after the engine cover has been trimmed the 2 attachment points closest to the firewall dont need to be attached as the bonnent holds the cover down.

The AVO has attachment points for the engine cover and from what ive read on the net seems to be the best factory bolt on fit (if you could say that!!) compared to any others on the market.

Im not going to be upgrading the turbo or anything like that im just getting a bigger cooler to keep temps down as it can get warm here in Perth and the OEM cooler isnt exactly a groundbreaking piece of engineering!!

Id like to know what everyone else is running on there cars and some experiences. I can find a bit of info on the AVO but not much on the Hyperflow.

Some help would be much appricated!!

Nah... the line-up of the holes to the cover suck plus you need different bolts to secure it!

I have the AVO one. I got it because it was cheap. The Hyperflow one looks like a nicer finish (polish instead of powdercoated) but I guess it's hard to give a measured difference in terms of power/performance differene between the two.

If I had a 2.5T I'd be going a Perrin if your going to stick with a TMIC... Largest you can get

I'm running a Hyperflow TMIC on our 2.0ltr.
True the Hyperflow is larger in core thickness, but I liked the idea of it having fabricated end tanks over the AVO's cast ones.
Just watch the area under the BOV boss, as mine developed a small leak there under boost.
Oh, John is a top bloke too.

When I was shopping around almost 12 mths back they were around $1300……. Not worth it when you can get a bigger Perrin TMIC landed from the US for well under a $1000.

AVO is very small compared to the Hyperflow and especially the perrin, build quality is also an issue on the AVO.

All aftermarket TMIC require the engine cover to be trimmed.

I got a quote for $890 shipped, but went for a secondhand HKS instead (I have a 2.0l, prices are the same for 2.5l). There is a thread on rexnet.com.au that you can get a discount by quoting

I tried to organise a group buy on these around 12 months ago and John from Hyperflow quoted me $950 if we bought 5 or more.
The Perrin may be a better option at the moment with the way the Aussie dollar is too.
So a few more things for you to consider Nick.

From what i read outta the US on legacy GT forum the AVO is a better bolt up fit that the Perrin.

AVO i called this morning was $880 inc gst plus $44 shipping to Perth.

Hyperflow is now $890 on there website not sure on shipping cost there.

Perrin i seen for $799 on fredbeans.com not sure on shipping either for this one. A lot of people on legacy gt say the Perrin has a lot of fitting issues because of it being such a big size.

For my application its either out of the hyperflow or avo. I wont be changing the turbo at all just want something that is better than the standard cooler to get temps down.

Perrin will only fit the 2.5T. But it's the biggest out of them all

go with the hyperflow, shipping can't be that much more the AVO....... but i still think the perrin is worth the extra hassel....trust me i have gone through it, its not as bad as what's said on legacy gt forum.
