Tek

Yes the kit will bolt on directly, however until we find a 2 Bar Map sensor to suit there is no way to tune these cars.

If I recall they have a Hitachi sensor and neither Hitachi or Bosch do a 2 Bar sensor that will plug in.

Solve the sensor problem and Edward (extreme racing tuning) could supply the tuning

I could do it with a Delco sensor but iw wouldnt be a plug in, would be a solder in proposition

I have an enquiry for a H6 in a 2008 Outback

Does anyone know if there are any real differences between the vehicles we are working with (sedans) and the Outback?

Open to any opinions on this......

Thanks. Soldering in a sensor to use Delco is not a huge problem. So basically aside from that, cost of kit is $4100 + tuning? I thought the piggyback interceptor was just plug and play, or is the tuning only required due to using a Delco sensor?

I havent used the piggyback on engines with FBW throttle control hence tuning via reflash so long as I can set up a 2Bar Map

The Delco is an option as the Subaru ECU is only looking for a changing voltage, same as any early Commodore 6 or 8cyl ie VN to VR

Jim,

It would make a great mod mate. Let me know how you go with the insurance point. Very valid.

With my own vehicles, Impreza and Hilux, I have them inspected by an approved Qld Tpt inspector who then affixes a blue modification plate if the SC modification complies.

With that procedure complete in then insure with Shannons

In other states the requirements are more rigorous and once you meet the compliance standards for your state you can then insure with a company like Shannons

My insurance is often around $100 more than before the SC

Hope that helps

For Gen 4, aside from the front bumper (and foglights I think), bonnet, interior trim (I think), wheels and suspension differences (for extra height) the Outback is the same as a Liberty sedan of the same year from the rear axle forward.

does the sensor have to be a 2 bar unit?
why not 2.5bar unit (as used in WRX's from 97 onwards)

if it's interceptor tuning then you should be able to enter the calibration and clamp level data for any size sensor you wish to use?

You are right

It could be the sensor from a WRX however I have been informed the plugs are different and also they way the sensors bolt to the manifold are different - meaning all incompatible - thats the info as I know it so far

About the piggyback - the cam angle sensor or rather the chopper plate has a different number of teeth to previous 2.5s and the manufacturer of the piggy back needs someone to take a vehicle of this model to him so he can map the new waveform and set up the piggy back for it - then quite rightly as you suggest we can clamp the factory MAP and tune up same as we do for the early models

The manufacturer is in Sydney and will map out the waveform anytime he can get hold of a vehicle

Where in Sydney? What would be involved in "reading the waveform"? If it's not going to be invasive to the loom/components in the car, I'm happy to help out (no interest in getting anything out of it - just wanting to help out if I can). I will be around the traps this week or the week after next.

I will be back in Aus around June 7, you may be not around Sydney then but I would like to be a bit closer to assist with organisation etc

I appreciate the offer and lets see if we can bring it together a little later in the future

I'll be back in Sydney for the week of the 13th.

Hang on, did you need a 3.0, Liberty 2.0/2.5 or a WRX for this waveform logging?
