I understand what youre saying and there have been times when i've fitted stuff to my previous cars that were not to my liking cos of NVH levels.
Good example was the diff bushings on my old WRX - fitted them, drove home called the workshop that fitted them to see when i could get them removed, drove right back and had them taken out.
But this 'clunk noise' doesn't sound normal - first i have to pin point the cause of the noise (just in case something is hitting something).
