Has one previous owner with full service history at my employer.
I picked the car up December 2010 with 140,7xx km on it. Currently its at about 147,7xx km. (It's a 2.5i btw)
Work done since owning the car (in rough order):
150,000km log book service with clutch fluid bleed.
Front LCA rear bushes replaced with Nolathane bushes through the car yard I got it from. They also did front driveshaft seals but installed them on the wrong sides and they leaked worse than before, so I replaced these with genuine seals and I also did the o-rings that sit behind them.
At this time I noticed when the control arm bushes were replaced the swaybar links were reinstalled incorrectly causing them to be at maximum flex all the time, this caused the balljoint boots to split, so I replaced both the front swaybar links with genuine ones.
Also upgraded my low beam and high beam globes to genuine vision plus and performance plus globes for some extra vision.
I have replaced the clutch and brake pedal rubbers, fitted carpet mats and light grey lambswool seat covers (I had a throw over Subaru seat cover until I got my lambswool ones:))
I've also fit a cargo tray in the boot, one day I will make/buy a new boot carpet as mine is rooted, and the little hanger thing is broken.
Some techs from work and I had suspected a big end knock occurring and some minor oil consumption so I decided it was time for the big one: full rebuild.
Me and a mate ripped my engine out at home and noticed my hydraulic tensioner was pitted to buggery and leaking, which caused it to knock against the block, probably the "big end" I heard, anyway we went ahead with the plan and got the heads and intake all off, took the heads, short block and flywheel to Knights Engines in Somerton Park (Highly recommended for ANY engine/head work!). I had the short block rebuilt with rings and bearings, apparently my bearings were near new but we did them anyway. The rings were rooted and bores glazed so that was machined up, everything was hot washed, and machined accordingly. I put it all back together with a new clutch and timing belt/tensioner kit. (FYI a genuine Subaru engine gasket kit does NOT come with spark plug tube seals, these need to be purchased separately)
Anyway, the weekend after the engine was out, it was back in and time for its start up. Started her up, ran it up to bleed the coolant, took her for a drive and she ran beautifully. A week later I checked the oil, all was good, and on the Easter weekend I just did the oil and filter after the 1,000km run in. And plans are at 150,000km I'll be doing the oil and filter with Subaru upper engine clean, fuel filter, and platinum spark plugs, which is in a bit over 2,000km away.
I will be servicing the car every 6,000km with an upper engine clean and octane booster to keep her in tip top shape!
And I always use BP Ultimate 98 Octane fuel. Washed every fortnight at the least with a vacuum, and dash/ door trims are wiped over when required.
I take pride in my car and try to go by the saying "what you put in it is what you get out of it." ie. shit fuel causes shit performance, shit maintenance causes stuff to break/ become damaged prematurely.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.
