RAPTOR SUPERCHARGER FOR LIB 3.0

Postby mike_ukr » Tue Apr 05, 2011 11:26 am

Hi guys, yes i have seen this topic posted earlier, but couldnt find the answer i was looking for. Im deciding whether to buy a lib 3.0 or 2.0 turbo GT. the lib 05 gt currently goes for bout 20K manual, and the 3.0 for 15K, i was thinking of buying a 3.0 and supercharging it with the left over cash. I was hoping to get some opinions, on supercharging a 3L before i decide between the two. has anyone done it before or know someone who has? is it worth spending 5-7K on a supercharger, such as the Raptor branded one? the intercooled version states to put out 270KW at the flywheel. JUst wanting peoples opinions on supercharging a 3L. thanks

If you do it right, I doubt you'd be able to do the SC for under $5K.

hey, thanks greenman, ive had a look through that thread but the people in it got off topic. ive had a look at the raptor website, the full kit goes for $6700

http://www.raptorsc.com.au/kits.php?id=58

i guess what i wanna know is, is it worth spending 6.7k on a 15k 3.0 lib, or will i get better results from a 2.0 lib. i havent has a subaru before, so im not sure how they build 3.0L h6 and whether they can tolerate superchargers well. i know subaru has always been good with 4 cylinder turbos, but i wouldnt mind something different, and kicking some 2-2.5L turbo ass. Im fine to do the labour myself, although will take to professional for tuning when installed

$7K is cheap but you would need a good set of headers :D

No comparison between the 2.0 l and the EZ30R.

Runs are already on the board with the smaller capacity engines. So should get some nice gains with the 3.0l.

Within 3 weeks the results will start to trickle in on these kits and we can see what the real world has to say

edit: not worth it. 270kw at the flywheel for 7k.

Or 300kw at the fly for less. and 500kw at the fly for another 6.

Explain to me again the benefits of the LEAST efficient centrifugal supercharging over a well setup turbo?

Kiks

Everyone is waiting for your $6k kit that gives 300kw+ and takes around 2hrs DIY to fit. Start right away, if you really believe you know your stuff.

98% of people find 6-7k a big spend on their vehicles and definitely don't want their car tied up at some shop for a few days. The same people are smart enough to know that 500kw is just going to ruin their trans and much more plus bigger risk of engine damage if the smallest thing goes wrong.

So youre saying people would rather spend money on a 2 hour job, than something completed over a few days of professional and 20-30 years of experience making sure everything is positively perfect?

Awesome methodology.

It will also be postively perfect either way - it has to be, it doesn't take 20 - 30 years learn to do something right - just do it right the first time everytime.

Correct methodology
