Control Arm replacement [ACT]

So a few weeks ago it was raining and i was driving like a dick and racing my friend around belconnen, any way, i fucked up and hit a gutter, bent my rim and left lower control arm, i was going to claim it on insurance but i have to pay a $600 premium, and i don't reckon it'd be too much more than that..
Can anyone recommend a place in Canberra that's reliable and cheap where i can get it fixed? i need my car to get to work but any chance i can get i take my sister's car 'cause my front left wheel now makes a slight metallic grinding noise when driving slow + braking

Did the same thing in my Nissan Pulsar... Was wet and i understeered straight into the curb. Except i was beating a V8 commodore at the time, so was happy with that effort (big pieces of shit ).

Anyway, haven't been "smart" (:P) enough to try that in my new AWD, i just couldn't see it understeering like that, you must have been crruuiising! It'll definitely cost you less than $600! Especially if you did it yourself! Lower control arm should only set you back about $100, plus $50 for a wheel alignment and a couple of hundred for a new rim! Doesn't take much to rip a lower control arm out btw, so long as you have some basic tools that every shed should have!

As for a suspension place, I assume you don't want to drive it too far?
Pedders in Belcompton go alright for replacing parts and a wheel alignment.
But if you want to drive it to a decent place, go to either Howard Revell in Fyshwick, Capital Steering in Fyshwick too or Inline Steering in Queanbeyan.

I've used Revell's a few times and they are good (I usually go there now), and also used Inline a couple of times and he is good too.

I got my lower control arm bushes replaced at Capital Steering and they did a fine job.

Sweet thanks for the help everyone, i've found replacement control arms on the net for around $200 but shipping it here and everything is so much hassle, i asked Subaru in phillip how much a new one would cost and they quoted me something like $628! and thanks tangcla but i think i'll go with sheppo9 'cause he's in ACT, much easier.
I ended up buying new rims a few days after it happened anyway, had been planning to for a while, got myself some hot AU Racing carbon fibre rims with a red lip from bob jane for $1300 with tyres (they screwed up so instead of giving me a $600 set of tyres they gave me a $1000 set).
