Heres my set up. Please ignore the damaged lip on the rear rim.. The perils of running such a set up.

I initially wanted Silver rims but none of the suppliers I talked to could get a set in for cheap. So I stuck with gunmetal. I'll eventually have them painted silver after I repair the damaged rim or replace it.

Anyways enjoy.

Thank you all for the comments.

I'll try get a full car shot sometime soon. Just took my front lip off yesterday (at the request of the girlfriend, claims it looks "boy racer"-ish). I personally think the front lip really set it off. So much more aggressive.

In regards to the colour, I do like how aggressive the car looks with the dark wheels, but I prefer silver, just because it makes the car more subtle and.. OEM looking.

Wheels are 18x9 +35, with 225/40/18 Nexen 3000's.

Camber: F: -2.5 R: -2.0 (or -1.5, can't remember now)

I had to do a lot of grinding/trimming/sanding/rolling/hammering to get the car as low as it is now without rubbing (except when you hit large bumps or dips at speed). I do want to lower it a tiny bit more.. maybe 10-20mm all round but seems to need a lot of work to make happen. The only real issue is the tab that mounts the front bumper to the fender, it's the only part that rubs and tears my front tires to sheds. The guys in the US have been able to relocate it but I'm yet to find any real detailed info on how and where to relocate it to. So if any of you boys have any ideas or links. Please share. Thanks.

Looking at the offset, yyou'll definitely need to roll guards. Whether or not you'll have to run a lot of camber + push guards a little depends on how low you want your car to be.

drndrn wrote:Let me warn you, with the ROTA G-Forces 18x9 +35 (or even worse 18x9.5 +38), if you're planning on having your car really low (as in less than 10mm tire-to-fender gap) you will run into problems. I have this set up and it took me a few sessions with hammers and the dremel till the thing stopped constantly rubbing, even now going over large dips in the road will cause it to rub.

Firstly, the little rear trim piece between the door and the rear wheel arch will catch on your tyres and potentially (like mine) be torn off completely. Here you'll have to trim the inner lip with a dremel by about.. 5-8mm, then there will be another metal lip behind it that will need to be rolled back.

Secondly, the under carriage and wheel arch liners will need to be trimmed and pushed up a little to accommodate wheel travel. I had this done when my guards got rolled and pushed but they still sometimes bottom out and scrub on them. Also be weary on the front passengers side I think, there's a few rubber pipes/cables that run within the guard. You may need to relocate this as well.

Lastly, the front bumper mounting point. This was the biggest issue for me as my car was so low at the front, no matter how pushed/rolled my guards were they'd still rub on this bit (where front bumper clips onto quarter panel). I got out the dremel and hammer again and grinded back the quarter panel. Doing this helped a lot but still didn't eliminate the rubbing completely (my front tires were shredding very quickly). I read that people relocated the mounting tab but I thought that was too hard and too extreme for me, so I ended up just lifting the car up by 10mm or so and now is all well.

Oh and just for references, I'm running BC BR coilovers with 8kg springs front and back. With -2.5 degrees and -1.5 degrees of camber in the rear.

Hope this info helps, i know it has been a frustrating few months trying to get everything working properly without having to get any professional body work done. At some points I really just wanted to sell up and buy 'proper' fitting rims.

Hey, drndrn just read that comment and was curious.

how much did you lower your car before you ran into problems? if i went 18x9 +38 on 2" springs. i assume ill have a heap of problems?
im planning to run 18x9 +38 w/ 225/40's and rolled guards.
or perhaps
18x8.5 +44 will be a better option for me?

I started running into problems when there was no gap between wheel arch and top of tyre. Or maybe even tucked into the wheel arch a few mm. So if you're not running anyhting that low you'll be fine. With my set up, the difference betwen rubbing and no rubbing was like 10mm.

18x9+38 will sit in 3mm compared to my set up, it'll look flush. If I had a chance I would have gotten +38 too.

My fronts have about 2cm fender - tyre clearance on the stock wheels and tyres, my rears are tucked in abit and fender covers tyre about 1.5cm or less

Do you think +38 will be okay?

Thanks for your info by the way! Very helpful and much appreciated

Your front may be alright with just rolling guards + a tiny bit of pulling.

But I htink your rears you'll have to get out the dremel or grinder + mallet to ensure no rubbing. And that's AFTER having the rear guards rolled.
