Its just odd that romraider works straight out of the box

edit:
Installed Learning view, and got the error as per attachment
does that help at all?

that's the strangest ecu id i've seen. Most start with Axxxx and are about 6 characters long,
Anyway its surprising LV doesn't support your ecu but romraider does?
I'll have a look through the xml for romraider tonight (posting from my phone)

Also, it seems that some of the mem models aren't loading properly in ecuflash by that log. Will look into that for you too

In ecuflash, I never had an option to tell it com7 has the cable plugged in. Could that be an issue at all?

OK Had a look at the RomRaider Logger XML, and it would seem that you are able to read the generic parameters (coolant temp, engine speed, rpm, igition total timing etc) BUT I'm guesing you can't see parameters such as IAM, Engine Load 4 byte, CL/OL fuelling etc as these are generally defined on a per ECU basis.

BUT back to ECU Flash, you don't select the com port like romraider, its auto detection.
I'm still not sure what to make of those errors. I double checked your ECU ID, and it was the internal ID I Was thinking of, e.g. mine is A2JZD02G, but has an ECU ID of 2F54505406.

Anyway, there is something preventing you from connecting to the ECU via ECU Flash - just need to sort out what. I'll have a little more digging today and see if I can find any more answers...

Cheers

few more hints:

make sure that romraiders logger is not runing when you try to read or flash the rom because both programs are going to be tryng to use the same port at the same time.

Finally, I wonder if the second set of connectors aren't connected. Although the thermo's are cycling, something is a miss here. It my be worth you checking out the other connectors just to rule it out.

I did a reboot of the laptop to minimise the problems on the pc, but that didnt help.

I'll have a dig around for the connectors on the drivers side, i've never seen them there before and i've done a lot of wiring under there.

Also ordered my lc1 in preparation so i hope we get it going.

in terms of romraider I'm not too sure, i'll have a look at those other bits of data and see if there is anything
They should show up in the gauges section correct?

Yes they should show in the Data tab if they are available. I.e. if you load the logger while not connected you see the generic SSM data that is available to all cars. Then when you connect to your ECU is when you see the parameters mentioned previously IF they are defined for your car... which they aren't in this case.

Question, i have an evoscan cable for my early legacy

it has both the SSM1 and OBDII connectors on it
http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-obdi ... -monitor-i

it however only has 4 pins in the OBD plug
would it work on the MY06
or am i going to have to cough up for another cable

Pretty sure it won't work as SSMII uses:
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Line
Pin 16 - Battery Power
which is the communication for reading/flashing etc. So looks like your shelling out for a new cable.

John,

do you know anyone in Melbourne that has an openport 1.3U or 2.0 cable & laptop that could read your ECU to eliminate the car being the issue, rather than the cable or config?

Also just read you used 1.29 - potentially should have used 1.29a, however 1.34, 1.38 etc should also work.
When you installed 1.29, did you completely uninstall 1.42 and uninstall the drivers?

Can you go to the drivers section for your cable and identify which driver is showing up when the cable is plugged in?

I'll have a squiz when i get home tonight.

I did a full uninstall and removed the folder which had some files left in it.

I'm not sure on item specifics, so could have been 1.29a but again, i'll post up tonight.

Wont be getting a chance to plug it all in until the weekend, working my second job tonight and probably all weekend

John,

I think I may have found the problem you are experiencing:
http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?t=1901
If you read through that, basically there are two versions of the SH7055 processor, and this was fixed in release 1.30. however, seeing as 1.42 onwards require the serial# from the cable, 1.34 or or 1.38 would be a good solution for you (I believe).

I have 1.38 which I can email to you if you want just pm me your email address.

Cheers
Lee

Looks promising.

makes sense, issue is in the version i am running, and the newer one wouldnt work because of the cable i use/

can you email the file to john@castekauto.net ?

I'll also host the file on my website so we can link it in the first post?
