Then you want to correct it by lowering your tie end pickup, further increasing load on the ball joint that keeps the car facing the direciton you want it to face, and consequently is being subjected to twice or more the load it was designed to from the increased scrub.

What the?

Dont correct it. Drive around at 7.2km/h as anything faster is dangerous. Engineers smarter than JDMy0 dorifto kids and herrafrush made things the way they are for a reason, mcpherson strut FTW.

why 7.2?

 @ Ian

Its about styling. Yes, it looks good to me.
Is it practical? certianly not!
Would I do it to My Liberty? unlikely.
However, to me it looks nice - pure poser spec ;)

I really like the agressive look but being that low puts all sorts of wear on the suspension, steering and hubs. I am finding my tie rod ends and bushes are wearing more quickly and need replacing after 50,000kms of having my car lowered and its not that low compared to that car.

I don't like this particular shot though, its my long time gripe about the liberty's and that is the rear wheel sits more forward than the arch of the guard and doesn't look right, its worse the lower you go too. Its even worse with that offset and angle the shot is taken from

Everytime a "hella flush" thread is posted on the forums theres always a lot of love or hate. Each to there own i guess as im a fan of how the style looks. Heres a few other teasers...

I understand what some of you guys are saying as it is impractical and does effect the handling.. But mines only a 2.5 NA anyway so its not really a performer Currently im running 18x8.5 +44front and +39rear at the moment but its just not aggressive enough for me so selling up and buying some 18x9.5 +38 rota grids or 18x9 +35 rota g-forces

Let me warn you, with the ROTA G-Forces 18x9 +35 (or even worse 18x9.5 +38), if you're planning on having your car really low (as in less than 10mm tire-to-fender gap) you will run into problems. I have this set up and it took me a few sessions with hammers and the dremel till the thing stopped constantly rubbing, even now going over large dips in the road will cause it to rub.

Firstly, the little rear trim piece between the door and the rear wheel arch will catch on your tyres and potentially (like mine) be torn off completely. Here you'll have to trim the inner lip with a dremel by about.. 5-8mm, then there will be another metal lip behind it that will need to be rolled back.

Secondly, the under carriage and wheel arch liners will need to be trimmed and pushed up a little to accommodate wheel travel. I had this done when my guards got rolled and pushed but they still sometimes bottom out and scrub on them. Also be weary on the front passengers side I think, there's a few rubber pipes/cables that run within the guard. You may need to relocate this as well.

Lastly, the front bumper mounting point. This was the biggest issue for me as my car was so low at the front, no matter how pushed/rolled my guards were they'd still rub on this bit (where front bumper clips onto quarter panel). I got out the dremel and hammer again and grinded back the quarter panel. Doing this helped a lot but still didn't eliminate the rubbing completely (my front tires were shredding very quickly). I read that people relocated the mounting tab but I thought that was too hard and too extreme for me, so I ended up just lifting the car up by 10mm or so and now is all well.

Oh and just for references, I'm running BC BR coilovers with 8kg springs front and back. With -2.5 degrees and -1.5 degrees of camber in the rear.

Hope this info helps, i know it has been a frustrating few months trying to get everything working properly without having to get any professional body work done. At some points I really just wanted to sell up and buy 'proper' fitting rims.

Yeah but I thought Hella Flush meant it scrubbed... If it doesn't scrub then its not hella flush? You can't have the tyres that close to the guards and not rub, the only way to do that would be to have no suspension

No.. You can have a flush set up without rubbing. Plenty of cars are able to do so, it's just how the lib was designed. ie. the wheels sit further towards the front of the wheel arches compared to others cars. Hence it fouls on the bumper mounting points/tirm piece. After rolling and pushing the guards out, they stopped rubbing on the actual guards/wheel arches themselves.

I'm not saying scrubbing is a bad thing, I am saying if you have an agressive offset then expect it scrub because if it doesn't then its not hellaflush. Thats like saying you want to have lots of unprotected sex in africa and not get aids...

You need really stiff springs, like 10kg or 12kg and then maybe a re-valve of the coilovers to suit to go really low and stop rubbing.

On my Outback I've got 18 x 9.5 +38 Grids, a 5mm spacer in the front to clear Brembo's so +33 in the front and 235/40/18 tyres - don't want to go smaller.
I had to raise the car 30mm from what it was with the Bugeye STi rims (it was really low, I kind of miss that...), roll and very slightly pull all the guards (haven't had guard liners for years) and run -2.3 and -2.2 camber and there is maybe 5mm clearance between the rear inner guard and the wheel.
