Ok for those of you in the know.

I've had problems with my engine light/Si-drive/cruise control after the change of the dump pipe.

We always knew it was problems with the sensor but it took alot of research from PHAT.

We took it to 3 Subaru dealers who could not give us an answer. The only answer they had was after connecting the diagnostic system and resetting it, O2 sensor error reading came up. They all said its the aftermarket exhaust and the only way to fix it is to go back to a standard exhaust.

They had no resolution for me.

Mike detected that the O2 sensor wiring was split and was likely the problem for the sensor error. Told Subaru and they said there is still a reading so theres no need to change it. We got a hold of the sensor. Went to PHAT's front yard, replaced it and used his own diagnostic system to reset the codes........................................... ERROR GONEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Si-Drive works perfectly fine, no engine light, and no cruise control light flashes.

The car is very responsive and you can definately feel the gains. Highly recommended and effective mod. Will dyno shortly.

Subaru experts? pfffttt..... PHAT GT's Front yard performance YO!!

THANKS AGAIN PHAT! Gents place your orders here!

Phil.

Sorry for my ignorance phil,

So you replaced the o2 sensor yeah?

Anyhow, glad to hear your problem is fixed.

Haha, is there anything the phat cant do??? :P

Phil
I have read this thread but there is no mention of you doing any ecu flash or piggy back ecu with this install of dump pipe? I am in the market for same dump pipe but no tunning options available here in WA at the moment thus the reason for the question.

Dave, I've had the full custom exhaust done from turbo back and had no problems. Still waiting for a tune.

Dave no need for a tune as yet. Seems perfectly fine to me. Will hopefully find time for a dyno run!

Mate you have an option! PHAT MAN! He can get 1 sent over.

Rosso - Yes it was the wiring on the O2 sensor. The rubber coating on the wires split sumhow and they must have rubbed against each other, frying the sensor. Thats all it was all along.

The first time i had the dump installed it was no problem. Si-Drive worked fine until that night i gave it a good run in which the wires must have rubbed against the metal shield.

Been driving all afternoon with S# and geez, did i miss it!

THANKS PHATTY! On to the next mod on the list aye!

Can anyone tell me what, if any, power increases are achieved by only installing a dump pipe?

Cheers

Although the below picture is of the dump pipe for the 2L version.
You will find that the 2.5L version is the same. I have some photos home back in Canberra I will upload eventually.

As you can see in the picture, the standard one has one pipe coming out of the turbo instead of the splitter style on the HKS one. You can probably therefore conclude from that as well as the piping that the std dump pipe is very restrictive. Out of the whole exhaust system for the libertys, gains out of the dump pipe is a lot greather than that of the cat back system.

Image

one of the negatives out of upgrading the dump pipe with the 2.5L we have noticed is that the cabin noise can be loud when cruising. This was however a dump pipe without the cat, bigger turbo, and hks premium exhaust

I had a HKS copy on my MY07GT.

Gains with just the dump plus full 3" system all the way thru with fuji mufflers gave me a dyno reading of 147kw or so. Only other thing is the HKS panel filter.

Cabin noise was not that much different. You do hear a more gruntier sound with slight burble (The guys or Jim can confirm this as he was comparing to his system). But it was unbelivably quiet inside the cabin comparative to outside, as most of you would have heard from the cruise.
