stainless intake 2.5i

Postby castek » Tue Nov 09, 2010 5:54 pm

Hey all,

Got bored and being bored in a workplace where you are surrounded by stainless is probably not good :D

I bought two 3"bends from work and found a piece of 3"tube offcut at my dads work, so whipped this little intake pipe up.

I know some are going to say, "its going to be hot, lose power"blah blah... its a 2.5i NA, if i wanted power, i'd have gotten a GT or i can just jump into my ute

Its still not 100% finished, I still have to take it apart again and get it electro-polished, basically make it a bit shinier and get rid of the heat stain from the weld.

Also, going to fabricate either a box for it, or a sheet to cover the whole lot, to replace the factory CAI

Haha yeah why not?

Best thing is, depending on the polishing, it would be all yours for under $100.

Find me any aftermarket stainless intake kit for that coin :D

That's the stainless tank looking thing yeh?

Tbh, if it wasn't for all the things that plug into it, it would be easily done.
Bit of 8" tube, dome cap on each end and the 3" tube to throttle body.

Oh and a fee grands worth of r&d into flow rates etc :)

John, keen if you can make an aluminium (or stainless steel) heatshield/airbox for my pod intake :)

A heatshield wouldn't be so bad, problem is I'd need the car for a weekend.
I'd need to measure, go to the sheetmetal place around the corner to cut some material and then I'd bend an work out mounting points.

And I'd go for ally, stainless is a bitch to bend.

Everythings doable, just comes down to time

Sounds good Leo. Hopefully it'll be designed for the A'PEXi Power Intake :)
