If it's going into a wagon then you wouldn't need a IB suited sub as the sub is in it's own enclosure in the back corner of the boot. Well, that's where it is in my MY10.

Personally i stay away from Pioneer and Kenwoods entry/mid range gear, they are just terrible. You will just end up disappointed I think, because with such a small driver, you are going to want excursion to move the air. I would look at the Polk, JL Audio has 8 inchers in the W1, W3 and W7 range (the W3 range are a fantastic driver for the money). Don't forget about Digital Designs, they are a mean woofer for their size. ID are a very good brand and make some fantastic speakers. You will want something fairly sensitive with the lack of power the Mac amp provides. If it were my dosh I would go:

DD
JL W3
ID
Polk
JL W1
Something
Anything
Nothing
Pioneer
Kenwood

You can also look into getting a new sub box made up, they are relatively cheap. That increases your options up to a decent sensitive 10'' or even 12'' sub. The new box wouldn't have to take up much more room than stock if the installer/fabricator knows what they are doing. Again, FHRX is your friend.

digging up an old thread here... if you haven't found a sub yet, JL Audio makes a 8'' sub that has a 98mm mounting depth.

Sorry I should have updated you guys. I decided on the JL W3 4 ohm. I haven't put it in yet and I might have a bit of trouble too but I'll just have to MAKE it fit lol

Thanks for the suggestion too...are you thinking up upgrading the stereo in your new wagon?

Not at this stage, probably only going to stick with the hand brake hack and upgrade the sub at some stage. Everything else is pretty live-with-able. But we will see haha ;-)

Take some pics of the JL when it goes in, will look schmick with the solid black cone and rubbers.
