New project: Car PC
Since my last 3 cars have had an audio system with a screen in them, I've been feeling the need to get something in the Lib.
After doing a bit of research, I've decided to build a Car PC from scratch. The next feel post will see the completion of my system and screen install.
Hardware: (so far)
* Gigabyte Micro ATX Atom dual core 1.8ghz
* 4GB ram
* 500GB Seagate 2.5" HDD
* M2 power supply
* Micro ATX case
* Lilliput 7" 669 GL HDMI ultra bright 450cd/㎡ touch screen
* USB WIFI
* GPS receiver
* 4 port USB hub (powered)
* Tactrix 2.0 cable
Software:
* Windows 7 Pro
* Centrafuse 2 (Will upgrade to 3 when I find a good skin)
I'm still needing some help with the following software, I'm totally new at this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
* Need a GPS software or Australian map that will run in Centrafuse
* Need a dummies guide on OBD II software and how o integrate with Centrafuse (I'm liking the GTR gauges)
Ok so now into the pics

and some fabrication work!
I was lucky enough to find a center vent unit for a very cheap price not long ago. This will let me go back to stock if I wanted to at a later stage.
After dismantling the compartment and LED screen, it looked like this.

I then stripped the all the vents off and was left with a bare facia. I also stripped the Lilliput screen down to the front bezel.

A trial fit meant that I had to do a bit of trimming to the screen bezel and a lot of filling of gaps to do. I then super glued it to the position that I wanted, making it easier for me to then apply the 5min Araldite glue for a permanent fix.

I then started to fill in the gaps with body filler, before sanding it back ready for primer.

Primer was then applied. I think it turned out well for something that only took a couple of hours
