On the road again

Hi guys, as part of my regular J.O.B I spend a lot of time in planes and at airports.

This time I have decided to thake the GT for a tour to run up some k''s.

I will be going from Brisbane to Tamworth, Newcastle, Sydney, Nowra then I was going to go over the range via Jindabyne and Thredbo to Wagga, then back the Newell to Brisbane.

I have done parts of this trip in the XT Forester and tried to find the best dirt roads the country had to offer.
This time i am looking for the best sealed roads as I'm not sure the Liberty Duco would appreciate the gravel.

If you know of any good sections of "Subaru Road" any where along this route I would love to hear.

I dont have much to say to total idiots like YOU just lucky you didn't hit some innocent car coming the other way when crossing the double yellow lines at speed on a wet road makes me wonder how some one with such a low IQ has lived as long as you have .
I feel like emailing this youtube link to some TV station and let them expose the idiot you are .

Like the 2nd video... Very interesting to see how well the AWD system keeps you on the straight & narrow on mud.

2nd video... I don't agree with. Although I'm all for "spirited driving" I can only describe what you were doing as dangerous. Considering the conditions you were in, I think you were lucky that the AWD system kept you safe & that some unlucky person didn't come the other way.

Why have you doubled the speed of the first video? it doesn't make it look faster when the wipers are a benchmark.

Crossing on to the wrong side of the road is extremely stupid and dangerous, why would you even film that let alone do it?

Don't be fooled by the angle of the camera, if I was looking through the camera and driving then yes, that is dangerous, but dont call me an idiot for what you yourself do everytime you get the chance.

Only one of you looked at the video properly an recognised the speed was altered up after filming.

Just checked your profile and it says your 48, in theory you should be old enough to know better but if your driving like that on wet public roads then the only thing that will teach you to slow down is a tree through your passenger side door, or another car through your windscreen.

I might be a bit emotional at the moment because I spent last night watching CNN Live where there were innocent people died in Manila from bus hostage tragedy.

The key message here is that those people were innocent and died because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

You should take a long hard look at yourself and consider the following:

(1) How lucky you were that you didn't harm yourself;
(2) That there were no others on the road that you could have killed; and
(3) This may sound harsh but consider your actions and the feedback that the guys here have given you. I think this forum consists of sensible mature people who appreciate cars as enthusiasts and not for once I have seen anyone here act so foolish and dangerous as you have in the clip, you should be ashamed of yourself.

I, for one am very disgusted at the clips and hope that you have learnt from all this. If you haven't then...I guess that is your choice but please think of others whilst you're on the road. The last thing you want is to cause an accident to a car full of family members trying to enjoy a holiday going on the same road as you are.

I don't own a Liberty anymore but am still a part of this forum because I appreciate the people here and the work they have done to their cars. I have been a member here for years and still here because I am a car enthusiast just like most of you here.

That's my 20 cents worth, hope that makes sense!

Yes you are right, there was one time that I crossed a double line and my visibility was not great but see, the policeman who was waiving me past the accident told me I could go, unfortunately I don't think the guy in the wreck on bells line of road was as lucky when he did it shortly before I came along, I don't think he actually had a policeman telling him it was safe to do so, in fact, now that you mention it, I think he may have actually been the cause of the police being there and the traffic inconvenience.

See what I am getting at here? Yes I am sure we have all crossed a double line before but reword it to "How many of you have done so illegaly and irresponsibly" and I think the results would be quite different. Most of the people on this forum seem to save it for track day (Which I am still not ready to go to but will do one day).

I may be many things (Good looking, awesome, brilliant, god like, these are all terms that spring to mind ) but a hypocrit is not one of them. And like a few people on here, I do post some tongue in cheek comments about being a race car driver or speed obsessed but that is all they are, tongue in cheek comments. I drive 25,000 km's a year and have not had an accident, I got my first speeding ticket the other day in 10 years (like seriously since when was the M2 between Windsor and Abbot roads dropped to 90?), what you did seriously was dangerous to both you and other road users, how long to you expect to be lucky for?

Take your car to the track and drive it as hard as you like, that is what track days are for.

You have no idea if this is a closed road / rally stage / course clearence drive / private road etc....
You just all make assumptions because you saw it on TV, "duh it must be true"

It's implied, there is no service / rally road that will cover that entire trip for you. Also, we may have seen it on TV (or YT as it is) but it was you that posted and linked it, what reason would we have to doubt you?

So, why dont you tell us what type of road it was and where it was.

Thanks for the advice though, I will continue shining my car, I would like to keep my resale as high as possible .

Mate, please tell us what type of road it is then?

And no, I did not make an assumption because I saw it on TV but I made a judgement call based on the actions and potential consequences that it may have to others on the road.

I also know the Law better than you think mate

My message posted somewhere above this one is just a plain 'wake up' call as I don't want to see anyone here putting themselves at risk and also others on the road.


And yes, I do love keeping my car clean and shiny! I don't think there is anything 'harmful' with that at all, do you?

Considering the first video (Which I noticed I can no longer view without logging in) was a sealed road with road signs, lane markings etc I make the assumption that it is a public road.

Also based this assumption on the fact that you stated you were out there to find good driving roads etc, which means your partaking in a rally stage or going on private roads.

If you want to drive like that, it's your prerogative... I just pray that you don't harm any innocent passengers or fellow motorists in the process.
