Feels weird after from body repair shop

Postby vp920b » Tue Jun 22, 2010 11:50 am

Hi all,

My car just finished from body repair shop. Looks good, like nothing happened even though from inside, yeah can see a bit of the repaint and etc.

The main concern here are:

1. my clutch pedal seems to be a bit longer than usual. The clutch ready to take off fully after the clutch pedal almost in the end, not like the way I drive it last Thursday when I dropped the car in body repair shop

2. The brake pedal making noise, like "ngak-ngik-ngak-ngik", sort of squeaking and not really gripping when it brakes.

Is it because of I leave in the body panel shop for 4-5 days? Because I felt different.

They didn't do mechanical don't they?

Cheers

Naldo

If they parked it outside for some time you'd get rusty brake discs but that usually clears up after a few kms of driving... I'm not sure about the clutch as they wouldn't have touched anything mechanical for your quarter panel repairs. I hope they've been looking after your car :angry2:

Yeah maybe brakes because of rusty and sort of that.

Clutch maybe because they didn't use it? Well, I will drive my car tomorrow. Today is enough for me.

Hopefully everything goes back to normal.

Thanks Jim

Car was a lot better today.

Just wondering, how to make the squeak sound from the brake pedals gone? I have WD40 and where can I spray it?

No idea which one to spray.

Thanks

Just leave it for a week or so... Could just be a build up of dust, which is a common with smash repairers. Hopefully it'll work it's way out & back to normal by then :)

From my past experience with cars after being repaired, they generally don't feel the same to me for a little while... Mind you, the car/s have generally been sitting around for weeks if not months, not just a few days.

If you are really worried, I'd let the repairers know of your concerns so if it doesn't go away, they are aware & therefore should look after you.

One word... placebo.

And spraying WD-40 on your brakes isn't such a great idea. You DO know the way brakes work is by friction, right?

He was talking about spraying WD40 on the brake peddle, not the actual brakes :P

find a stretch of road with no cars or anything you can hit and do a couple of 60 kmph -0 hard brakings

this will wipe all the crap of your rotors and pads and solve your issues hopefully

This is a sound from my brake pedals, not for my brakes.

Of course I know I can't spray it on my disc brakes.

Just checking

In that case get into the footwell and spray it on the pedal hinges, that's fine. I did that with my last car as well.

Everything should be all right, brake pedal only made squeak sound sometimes.

Now I'm a bit worried to polish my car.

After repaint, is it safe to polish it? Seriously afraid to polish my car. Because the guy just compound a bit of my paint and not clean enough.

Cheers.

When I was in the industry and we fixed cars that had paint protection on it, the company would book the car back in to reapply the protection 4 weeks after being sprayed to make sure the paint is cured properly.

Paint Protection=Waxing right?

I want to do polishing because yesterday compound is still there, I mean not clean enough. I want to make it clear. That's all.

Cheers
