My whole setup involved the Eclipse AVN726EA headunit, a facia plate, 5-channel Alpine PDX-5 amp under the seat to replace the Mcintosh - all up was about $2K.

did you just use the top section or do you have to replace the heater control unit as well?

how much of an improvement did you notice over stock with the new head unit and amp?

You don't have to use the new HVAC. I used it because it's got less scratches. :P

And I didn't upgrade for audio quality; I changed the HU for the integrated satnav and iPod controls. In terms of audio, I'd say the Mcintosh sounds more full - the Eclipse just sounds more hollow...

Stark contrast to my upgrading from the Kenwood to Alpine. The Kenwood sounded like a 1950s ham radio by comparison
