What coilovers for MY08 3.0R??

Postby andy85 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 6:28 pm

Before i bought this car i had to choose between normal 3.0R or B-Spec. Wanted the ivory interior so had no choice but to choose the non b-spec. So now time to upgrade :D whats the ride like on the Tein coilovers Vs Bilstein Vs STI??? i'm after a nice comfi setting for normal cruise and stiff up when pushing it. Not gonna be a track car so STI won't be my choice. Just that occasion aggressive driving every now n then. :D

I've got Teins and combined with a great wheel alignment, my car handles superb and are comfortable as well. Loving the corners. Setting is not full soft either, 8 :10 F/R
Talk to Michael (PHATGT) and get a great deal.

That requirement says you want adjustable shocks. Coilovers are the easiest way to get that sort of adjustability. Fwiw, Heasemans (Sydney Bilstein reps) quote in the region of $600 to add a damping adjuster to a shock. That's $2400 for the set before you get them to do any other work to the shocks  Damn

If u r not tracking the car just go for the billies with some nice springs like teins or eibach or h&r's. That is the best all-rounder for a road car.

I've tried standard shocks with 2 different types of springs, and also coilovers, and i'm now on billies and i'm the happiest with the billies and tein s-techs.

Racing logic. Tried several combinations of spring rates in them as well.

The billies on their own or even with STi pinks are pretty crappy. But combined with the S.Techs it's an unbeatable pair up for a non-coilover solution. :P

Hey guys just trying to choose my suspension. Can someone tell me the difference between Tein Superstreet Coilovers to the Tein Flex Coilover.
I know ones more firmer than the other.
Keep in mind that my car will never hit the track I just want that perfect ride height and adjustable when I need it to be.

Thanks

Then you should consider BC racing coilovers. Particularly the BR's. Myself and pplwu, use these as well as many many many legacygt users. They swear by them over there.

I haven't driven any other cars with coilovers so i can't really compare to other coilover set ups, but these are day and night better than the s-tech with non-billies i had. The ride is very controlled, obviously with any set up you'll feel the bumps in the road more than stock, but they're definitely comfortable, I hear one of the more comfortable set ups on the market for the libs. They also get compared to the Tein Flex's and many say are better on legacygt which I was surprised with, but that being said I haven't tried the Flex's.

I got the BR's through JustJap for $1299 shipped I believe it was. If you're ever in the SE area, I'll be more than happy to give you a test drive.
