Gen 3 Wheel Recommendations?

Postby mitch2147 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:33 pm

I need to get new tyres and am thinking about going ahead with some new rims as well. I just want to see what you guys think would look nice on my car.
I don't want to spend too much btw.

Also, what are some other mods i can do to improve the look? (Apart from colour matching the side strips)

Im happy with my gen IV wheels and my insurance company had no problem with them with was a big thing for me cause i dont want to pay that much more to declare etc.

I think lowering, tint, possibly 2003/b4 lights?

Michael.

ps - those wheels would look good too lol..

but IMHO id lower it first because new wheels will draw attention to the 'outback' gap at the front.

Yeah I'm really considering gen4 wheels, but haven't had too much luck finding any. They are good because it's a subtle change and less costly than the other options.

Staying with genuine Subaru wheels should also be no extra cost to insure them. Just car insurance said because they are still alloys not rims they won't change your insurance policy.

Try to pick up some nice gen4 rims 17's or 18's and use the extra money to get it lowered, tint, lip othe mods. :)

Stick with factory alloys and you will have no problem all round

It's annoying how good the standard 17's from the Gen 4 (Pre-Face lift) look on the Gen 3's... That would be my pick, just maybe powder coat them or something to give it a point of difference.

I think there is a set of 5 currently for sale as well ;)

Yep, Bugli's car looks great with them on. Very clean and the lines suit the gen3 well. My mate with a gen1 ended up with mine and they look great on his car too. About the only cars they look out of place on is the gen4's !!

When I get to it I will post up pics of my new wheels.

Good idea with the powder coating. Glossy black may look alright.

Thanks for the help and ideas guys.

My wifes MY01 RX is now fitted with MY00 (or 01) WRX 17" rims in charcoal (under Deep Blue Mica paint) and they look fantastic as they are not too different from the original 5x2 slot wheels.

That said, I would have put Gen 4 rims on it if I could have them for the same price.

01-03 BE/BH headlight won't fit they are a different shape. To make them fit you will need to change atleast the bonnet, bumper bar and radiator support

Great pictures Shane. The different styles/colours that could be used is what i was looking for.

They also remind me that i should get some clear indicators.
