Today I just went over Mt. Dandenong and City.

Sometimes if I start driving from stop(my car manual), something from dashboard make noise, inside the dashboard, I don't know what sound is it, but I can hear it's from around steering/speedometer around there.

Then in first gear, from stop to drive, sometimes it makes squeak noise for 1 sec only, slight squeak noise from the clutch. Maybe this problem same as Jim and others who have manual...

I'm a bit worried to bring my car to Adelaide.

Thanks

Mine got someone car key, so my spare key actually not my car key but because the remote to open and lock the car was separate with the module inside the key.

To order the new key, there is 2 tags that come with the car. One is the small tag stainless steel, and one is the security code tag(and I don't have the security code tag)

So I just book a new key, sent from Sydney. Costs me another 500 bucks.

My spend for this car:
1. Timing belt kit: 1000
2. Radiator fan and AC fan+thermostat: 1100
3. Regular service+brake pads+machining brakes: 450
4. AC service and changing battery terminal: 160
5. Wheel bearings: 500
6. CV joints: 150-Recondition(new subaru 900)
7. Bushing(pedders): 150-200(forgot the exact price)
8. Wheel allignment: 70
9. Wheels & Tyres: 500
10. New keys: 500

Grand total: 4400-4500ish...

I just feel disappointed with my Subaru. First time owned a subaru but I think it will be the last time to own subaru.

Spend too much money on this car but I need to use it for the next 3 years.

Next to come would be clutch in around 100,000K's.

If I know this would happened, then I just buy the 3L liberty from here.

Sadly everything already happened, and I need to use this car for 3 years. My parents already mad at me.

Thanks

i know how you feel, i just bought my subaru and spent a whole crap load of money.. my parents went off as well. i still love the look of the car though,

Yup, I still like the way it looks and the overall car.

Sadly, this is the most unreliable car I've ever had. Since many parts I need to change.

Cheers

Did someone know how to fix the rubber door seal on C-pillar?

My rubber was a bit off and I can't insert it back.

Thanks

Just want to ask,

If I start the car in the morning, where the engine is cold, is it normal after 5-10 second I can hear watery sound from inside the car and only for 30 seconds?

I see a steel hose behind Dashboard/before engine, what is it?

Thank you

first thing, have you had your engine colant changed recently??

if so grade A tel tail sign of the cooling system not bleed correctly as you will be hearing water+air running through the heater core.

when engine is cold check the coolant level if low top up to correct spec and start the motor also turn the heater on to full hot (this opens the heater taps and allows water to follow throgh and forces the air pockets out) NOTE there maybe a bleed screw for the cooling system as well, but unsure as never done a bleed on a subi before!!

hope this helps just an idea as had the same fault on one of my old cars

It's changed when I had a fan change.

Well, I will try your method and check the coolant level. Might be less than what it should be.

Thanks Al.

Naldo,

All that front end work smacks (pardon the pun) of a front end hit. It sounds like your car may had had a small accident in the past and these repairs are things that probably should have been done at the time. Wheel bearings, fans, timing belt, driveshafts and bushes can all cop a hit if a car goes over a kerb hard (under brakes) then hits something like a pole. Good news is now that you have fixed them it should be fine.
It may have popped an airbag and after it was replaced some of the trim might be catching giving you that squeak.

As for the water rushing noise I have had 4 of this model (all JDM BL/BP legacy GT) and my sedan did it but none of the others (ie reverse down the driveway and swing left and it sounded like water sloshing in the dash). Tried clearing the AC drain and a million other things (removing heater motor etc). Never got to the bottom of it. Sometimes I noticed the floor in the passenger foot well was damp too. It is a commonly reported in the States. I just learned to live with it.

As for coolant, these cars don't have a bleed valve because they have the high mount filler over the engine. Just make sure that is full when the car is cold.

All cars cost money unfortunately but I bet you wish you had that $4k to spend on something else though.

So the watery sound is just normal? Well, it's fine for me since it's only last when the car was started in the morning for 30 secs then it's gone.

Yeah, 4K I can spend something else I suppose, like muffler and stuff because I felt this car needs more torque.

Btw, I'll just check later on, since I will bring this car to Pedders Shop today, so I will check everything under this car.

I also notice that if I run in rough roads or lets say in tram lane(whitehorse rd), there is a sound from my dashboard. I already found where is it, but I don't have any guts to open and fix it. It's from behind the speedometer I noticed. Just hate when it making sound but if I hit couple of times, the sound gone.

Well, I hope there's nothing major problem with this car. If I need too spend lots of money, I think I will change this car.

Regards,

Naldo
