by the look of the actual key itself, it doesnt look like a Gen IV key. Must be an older model Liberty. Also, id assume its possible to do this mod. It might be possible to take the pcb from our fobs and place them into a 'flip shell' and then just get a key cut.

Let us know of any info you come across.

Unfortunately since it's genuine Subaru, it's going to cost a lot of $$$. But if you're still keen, contact Phat GT from this forum.

He suggests you should get the genuine subaru "push button start" module from Subaru Japan.

At which point you asked where from, to which the response was:

its a push button starter. Instead of using a key, you have a button that you press to start the car. And there would be no need for a key. You will prob have somesort of transmitter to let the car know that you are in range and to unlock itself and allow you to start the car. Similar to the Toyota Aurions.

How about just a simple 'tell me more'? A 'how' and 'where' doesn't really convey the message of more details does it? :P Only where and how to get one (you wrote "HUH???? so me how and where").

As mihai stated, it's an entire kit that you can buy from Subaru Japan, because they actually come as standard on their luxury models or as upgrades. If you've seen the Toyota Aurion/Lexus' it's similar to that. You can a FOB key and when you are in or near the car, it will sense it, and you can just push the start button to start the car instead of having to insert a key. The kit also comes with a blanking plate to cover the original key hole as well for a more integrated look. I don't know whether it allows for auto unlock by touching the door handles like the Aurion though. But expect to pay $1,000+ AUD for the kit. Now, if that price doesn't scare you off, you can contact a member on this forum named Phat GT who can get the kit for you from Subaru Japan.
